onebadjeep93 10-06-2010, 04:19 PM this is my 99 cherokee im putting full widths on. originaly was going to do dana 60's but couldnt find a front so i got a 79 3/4 ton dana 44 and dana 60ff. plans are to keep my 6.5" long arms running ballistic brackets and johnny joint upper control arm bushings. i have some 35" mtrs w/kevlar and beadlock rims. disc brake conversion in the rear. 5.13's or 5.38's with arb lockers. heres a couple pictures.

so ive got the rear in and close to done but on the front end im having trouble. just wondering if anyone has run a radius arm setup with only 1 upper arm on the passenger side and still drove it on the road? being a high pinion axle the driver side bushing wont sit parrallel with the passenger side and be where it needs to be. any ideas what to do? thanks.

truss it and weld the mount to the truss

This. And with that gear ratio/tire combination... You'll be lucky to see 50MPH.
I've heard great things about those tires though! :)

i have, no issues at all, lots of wheeling and lots of street miles. eventually though i decided to go 3 link.

overkill is awesome

i run 35's with 5.38's. no issues at all. cruises at 70 all day long. tops out at 91mph
onebadjeep93 10-06-2010, 05:53 PM the reason for the d60 is for buing overbuilt and possibly one day switching it onto a tj with 37's+.
and ktm do you have your upper link on the driver or passenger side?
my problem with putting an arm mount on a truss is it being taller than the passenger side. wont that cause wierd driveline issues?

its on the passenger side, but it really doesn't matter.
i dont quite follow why there would be driveline issues.
i have a low pinion front axle and its smooth when i have a balanced driveshaft in there, but i usually keep the hubs unlocked on the street anyway.
CTeunuch 10-06-2010, 06:02 PM Nice shackle angle.
onebadjeep93 10-06-2010, 06:47 PM I'm worried about it being to much stress for one upper rough country arm and torque twist of the axle having my one arm not on the diff.

i would build new arms.
a 10mm bolt keeping my front axle from flopping around doesn't sit well with me.

x2
or this could happen.....

onebadjeep93 10-07-2010, 08:27 AM Looks like that design made the link mount week.
AgitatedPancake 10-07-2010, 08:39 AM Haha gotta love that pic. Yeah it was a weak design, I'd be the first to tell ya that nowadays! From the short while I ran my setup like that: I wouldn't do it on any suspension setup with bushings. It had wild brake pulls that would pull the truck to the side, and even if the mount didn't fail like it was said earlier you're still relying on that single small ass bolt to locate the axle. No thanks.
Here's it's replacement, a mount out of 1/2" plate with a 3/16" gusset...and a drivers side mount on a truss.

onebadjeep93 10-07-2010, 04:13 PM What size bolt and what upper joints are you using?
AgitatedPancake 10-07-2010, 04:32 PM The stock bolt diameter...7/16 IIRC? And just press in bushings like the pics show
onebadjeep93 10-07-2010, 06:36 PM Well I have Johnny joint uppers on both sides of the link and they are stock bolt size but ktmracer was saying to use bigger bolts?
AgitatedPancake 10-07-2010, 06:38 PM if you have a single upper link locating your axle, hell yeah!

currie also makes the 1/2 johnny joint for the upper control arm mounts
ktmracer419 10-07-2010, 07:10 PM my upper uses 5/8" bolts with 1.75x.250 dom and 7/8" heims
my lowers however only use 9/16" bolts. solid stock and cartridge joints. havent had issues with the lowers, but if i do i sure will be upgrading.
there is nothing wrong with a little overkill

That's What I have the curried ones but I don't know of a way to use a bigger bolt. I doubt the joint can be drilled to 1/2"+.
My problem is Its already welded on plus That's not a cheap joint. I don't see a way to build a new arm and still use this curried joint.
RoyalXJ 10-07-2010, 08:22 PM it currie....no d. they sell a 1/2" version of what you have.
