Today I found that the passenger side motor mount is broken on the block. Great. How should I best go about fixing this? Try having the broken bits tig welded back onto the block? Grind it flat and tig a plate to the block with new tabs?
the area is very easily accessable to weld right now aswell. edit: replacing the block is a non option so dont even bring that up.

I wouldn't weld to an assembled block, but thats me, plate back to other/more holes and rework the mount?
edit: like these brackets

In most scenarios, I wouldn't weld to a block either, but I figure with the small amount that actually needs welded, just the two small tabs, it cant get that hot for that long.
I'll look for some empty accessory holes to use as anchor points as an alternative, but I'd really like it welded.

i have a broken one off in on my jeep, the block came from a 94 wrecked zj. easiest way i fixed it was running those brackets from MORE. works perfect.

This is the only time I wish I had the 4.0 and not the 5.2.
I looked again, there is one hole in the block a few inches back, and another single ear or tab with a usable hole. There is a freeze plug hole adjacent aswell. Slim pickings for a bomb proof style mount.

YEAH, STIFF MOTOT MOUNTS ARE REALLY COOL! Getting in a 30 MPH T bone crash because some asshole wasn't paying attention and makes a left infront of oncoming traffic (read ME) then flees the scene, isn't that cool.
The motor mount broke because the framerail buckled and bent really fucking bad in the wreck, putting a ton of stress on the motor mount.

It's all good. I just wish the fucker had stuck around the accident for a few more minutes.
As for the tabs, Nick Session from Xtreme is going to come by and take a look on saturday, I have faith that if it is weldeable, he'll be the guy to do it.
There's three holes in a triangle pattern about 6-8 inches behind the current mount. I welded new frame rail mounts and bolted a plate to those three holes. Used a lower control arm bushing as the mount itself. $30.
