I love that part of the country. My dad moved out to Vegas a couple of years ago. It's definately an awesome place to live. Oh yeah, nice looking rig by the way...:D

yeah, its a pretty cool place to live. Although I'd rather live in the tropics by the ocean . theres some good wheeling here but there is no decent fishing withing 300 miles :(

I do have a fondness for the desert though

stock springs w/ a trimmed main leaf from another set of stock springs added to provide more strength & fight brake wrap. the clamps have been straightened to allow for the leaves to separate & they were painted w/ slip plate. I've got 9012's front & rear w/ f250 shock towers up front.
I might add longer springs someday but frankly it already flexes as much as the front drive shaft allows(44d minitruck ujoint by Jess @ the t-case).

Nice work, I struggled a lot with different shock positions when I did my SOA on my 60. I ended up fabbing my own mounts out of box steel that (once painted) looked good and allowed for great droop with some trimming into the inner fenders to allow for the shock mounts. But it allowed my shocks to be so long that under extreme articulation (more than pictured here when I was testing it ?pict 1 (http://www.cisautoweb.com/dtlc/hjmods/hjsoa%2520002.jpg) pict 2 (http://www.cisautoweb.com/dtlc/hjmods/hjsoa%2520003.jpg)) the shocks would actually touch the frame and I ended up bending one somewhere right around the section of this video clip if anyone wants to check it out,
http://www.dccrusr.com/mineral_basin.htm - the high quality one is nice, it shows what a HJ60 sounds like with 2" of exhaust because we just finished installing the turbo that morning and homebrewed up some minimal exhaust to run the trail that day. You also get to see a 60 with piss poor gearing, even with that 4.9 1st.

If I ever do the SOA on a 60 again I'll probably do the Ford mounts, the ones I've seen come off a F-350 and look similar to the stock 60 mounts, just a whole lot longer...

But the tropics would rust your 60 from the inside out in less than 5 years. Interesting way to deal with the axle wrap. How does it ride with the extra longer leaves on the road?

Thanks,
This was my second SOA on an fj60. the first one I used the f350 mounts that have the 4 bolts. damn things cost me $55 ea. but compared to the allpro shock hoops (the only option @ the time for 60's) it was cheap. on this one I learned that the f250 Mounts are almost identical but have 2 bolts & cost only $12 ea. when mounted they tend to hold the shocks out too far so they rub on th tires. I take & cut them at the bend & bend them back about 1.5" & then re weld them. this way works perfectly. I also cut the fenders to hold the mount higher. I'd take some pics but my digital just left the office.

Thats a cool Video, your 2h sounds like a poorly tuned, leaky F :)
I know that gearing problem oh so well. my last fj60 suffered from the same affliction. my 33:1 700r4 performs GREAT in those situations.

Yeah, i lived in hawaii for a couple of years.... no crusier should be subject to that abuse. (although if you keep a car clean & maintained they can go for 20 years w/ little or no rust) I guess that means I'll have to have a few of them :D

on my last SOA fj60 the springs were VERY bent & sagged mostly just from daily driving w/ lots of braking (I don't drive very slow)
on this one I bought a set of 1 year old front stock springs & cut & tapered a main leaf just short of the original main leaf. this leveled the truck out even w/ the bull bar & 8274 & they have put up w/ lots of abuse & still are not totaly flat. the ride on the highway is not any stiffer then the stock springs were & w/ the swaybar connected & the shocks set to 3 it rides better than ANY SUA fj60 than I have ever been in. Also the main leaf I used was from my old bent & sagged springs & I flipped it around so that the bend fought these new springs from bending... so far w/ about 10k miles & some pretty hard wheeling they have held up completely to the abuse, far better than I had anticipated.
the old springs had bent so badly that I was probably running a few degrees negative castor w/ knuckles rotated 4d positive

Damn I love that flex!! I guess I'm gonna have to start saving up for my SOA now that I have a good crawl ratio, My 60 doesn't even come close to yours on full droop b/c the springs are too stiff... What size of tire are you running?

Thanks.... Those chops took me hours!!

nope no FF yet. I barely got the 4.88's setup in the front let alone swap in the FF. I wasn't joking when I told you those things would be decorating my garge for a year (or 2 probably) :D

not only does it flex, it rides excellent. the only problem is for some reason 60's have more body roll than any other vehicle lifted that high. the side hill pucker factor is up there.

the tires are crappy 35"x12.5" General MT's ($110 ea.) . They grip pretty good but kinda low quality. I had a blow out about 5 months ago at 80mph in one of the back tires. scared the heck out of me.
