I was just offered a deal and wanted to ask advice. A friend just bought a truck that has 44"x16.5" BRAND NEW TSL's on aluminum Mickey Tompsons and wants to trade them for my 39.5"x15" on steelies. Should I do it even though they are 16.5? Are the MT worth enough that I could get some decent bead locks?

oh yeah, there's your answer. As long as your drivetrain it up to those big ass tires, you should do it. :D

I'm going to a 350 this winter and everything else is one ton stuff so it's all strong enough. Problem is money (of course) for the hummer wheels and doing everything to make them bolt up.

Has anyone here welded a safety bead inside a steel rim on 16.5's so they are like 15's?

never tried it on a 16.5 but I built up the bead on a 15. Worked pretty good, but you had better hope that your welding skills are better than mine. :D haha I bent that rim in half like a taco and it never came off the bead.
