I know it has been asked before, but I can’t find anything good. I already tried posting on the Dodge forum to no avail. You may laugh at first, but please refrain from rolling on the floor as it may contain sharp objects. ie. God will punish you. Dana 44… but not any Dana 44 a front 1979 dodge Dana 44, I want 5 on 5.5. I have already read and printed every write up on the ford, chev and wagoneer 5 on 5.5 conversion, but when I got the hub/rotar ordered with reference to a 79 f150 it diden’t fit, the spindle woulden’t slide into it.
Can I use a wagy, ford or chev knuckle on my Dodge 44 without welding and using diferen’t shafts?
If you can search and find something with regards to this, by all means post the link.
Thanks in advance

I don't really understand what the question is. You have a 79 Dodge 44 I take it and it is not 5X5.5 and you want it to be. Is that right? If so then here is the answer........Go get 5X5.5 Dodge stuff. I know Dodge 44's of the mid 80's for sure use 5X5.5, use Chevy large bearing type spindles, and are flattop type knuckles. So go pull the knuckles out off a mid 80's Dodge and be done with it. Oh and yes your axles will still work fine I would bet. Just look at the snap ring grooves on the stub and make sure they are the same as yours and if not then grab the stub axles and put them on your axles.

You sure it's a dodge! if it is and it doesn't have that pattern then I'd say it's to old to run, get rid of it. But if your interesting I have all 84 Dodge 44 knuckles out parts in my garage and they need to leave! yes flat-top knuckles, brakes, I think the spindles are there too, even got the stub shafts and short side too. PM me if interested, I bet they won't work. Anything before a 73 model is junk in my opinion (as for Dana 44's that is).

Is it the full-time 5 on 4.5 Dodge D44? if so, then you need to swap knuckles out. stub MAY be the same, may not.
Anything before a 73 model is junk in my opinion (as for Dana 44's that is). Uh yeah...he said that it was a 79. Not being a dick....but READ before you post:flipoff2:

To change to the big pattern you need to get the knuckles out from a 80 or newer Dodge 1/2 ton or Ramcharger.. You should be able to use your current brake caliper and mount but the rest has to be changed to include the stub axle..

Thanks for all your help guys. I took the liberty of going to Dodge and having a look at the outer axle assembly (82 was the earliest they had) drawing and it seems by the drawing that the 78 or 79 is the same as the 82 can anyone tell me otherwise for sure? Will bronco spindles and hubs work on my knuckle? My spindles bolt on with 6 3/8 bolts.
