: extension cord for welder????

i have a millematic 185 welder 220 volt and need to make an extension cord around 25'. first is this a problem? second what since of cord to use? and last where and approximately what will it cost? thanks:D

home depot/lowes. 6 or 8 gauge can't remember what i got.i think it was around $40?? for 30ft.

I got 6/3 "so" jacket at grainger. cost about 1.25 ft.

No problem , But I had to go to a electrical supply company to get the cord . Home depot only had that crap with the stiff insulation , for putting under ground.

I found that the cheapest most flexible cord stock at the welding supply house of all places! ;) Was way cheaper than either home depot or the electrical supply house I get stuff at 10% over cost at.

Call any welding supply store and ask them.
They usually cost about as much as you can buy the wire and 2 ends but they are allready wired.
I got mine at a small electric supply store allready made up.

8 gauge is 40 amp wire, 6 gauge is 60 (I THINK).:D

I bought my 25' cord from the local welding shop for 25 bucks:D

With connections it cost 45 total for the whole thing.

Here's one listed on Ebay, from a reputable Welding store. I bought one and it works perfectly. Only place I could find one like this... :D:D
