I have blown my AX-15 tranny in my 94 YJ for the second time in 50,000 miles. I am reluctant to rebuild this one again since it has failed twice already. What year AX-15 trannies will swap into the 6 cylinder YJ? 89 to 96? Cherokees? etc. any help or advice is appreciated.
BTW I have front D44 from an 82 Waggoneer, rear from a 97 explorer, 4.10 gears, 32x12 SS
Thanks.

Any year from '89-'99 will swap directly in. Pre '94's have an internal slave so stay away from those. You will need to retain your YJ mount for the TJ models. You can also use a NV3500 or NMV3550 from a newer TJ and just build a custom mount. All of these trannies are the same length. If you use a NV tranny you will also have to modify the t-case linkage because it mounts differently. HTH

id go to the person rebildin this, the ax-15 is a damn good tranny... as far as the nv, it is a total piece of shit, my brothers is always givin him problems.... bearings goin in it, it wont shift into 5th at times, i really like the way the ax-15 feels compared to the nv
