Ok I am a total newbie when it comes to this.
I just bought a 10' cabover. It has hydro jacks. What is the best way to load this on my truck so I dont just drop it on? I played with the jacks just on the groud today and when I would go to let the jack down it was way fast.
Any help is more then appricated since I am going to be the only one there doing this and its my first time :D

My advice is to get help! Get someone anyone to look at the opposite side of where you are at. I had a very old 8" cabover and man was it kinda scary backing my truck underneath it. The one i had had a hand crank system that you would raise and lower it with. I am sorry i have no experiance with the hydros.. but good luck...

Ive got a 92 cummins 4x4 ex cab and that truck just stock is high. I have a 11.5 lance camper that i load my self and yes it is real scary. The jacks are hydro just like yours. Just remember DON'T get in a hurry jacking it up. I pump each corner 3-4 pumps at a time. I know this takes time but you will feel more comefortable doing this slowly. When i get it high enough the bottom of my camper sits about 4ft off the ground. And at that point it tends to rock very easily and scares the shit out of me everytime.. Just do everything slowly. As far as lowering it, i let the front bleeder screw out just a little till the camper starts to slowly move then go to the other side and do the same. Letting it slowly lower then i go back to the rear and do the same for each of them as the fronts are continually going down. Hope this helps you.
My buddy swapped in some crank style jacks for about $200.00 and uses a battery powered drill to run them up and down. Almost as good as my electric jacks :flipoff2: easier on the marrage also. Hydros scare me.

The only suggestion that I can make is lift the camper "just enough" to slide over the truckbed, ensure that it is centered in the bed and let it drop on down. I had the crank ups on my slide-in and once I lifted the camper up just enough to pass over the bed, I drew lines on the poles to mark them,...that way, I didn't have to guess or keep eyeballing it.

Well I did it but it was scary as fawk! I guess its just something to get used to.
I had a thought. Could you make a winch mount that goes in the camper and you make ramps that go up to the bed and just pull yourself in? Then when you want to put it back you could winch yourself back out and drive away.
Just somthing I thought of. It would be much nicer then dealing with the jacks.
