Well everyone came together and kicked major ass today! Nearly 40 waterbars  were constructed, and tons of trash was collected. The wheeler turnout was a little low, but those that showed up really did a great job!

No landowners. :( I'm trying to stay positive about this, don't get me started on the folks that raise a holy ruckus about keeping us off the public land near them but can't be bothered to come and assist in taking care of that land.

:crybaby: I returned that rental jackhammer but the soreness lingers. I don't recollect using the hammer on my back, but that's what it feels like! :o

...but DAMN we kicked some ass! As we drove out, I was lookin at the various drainage/water bars, and they looked great. Busting through that compacted roadbed to induce drainage was tough. In some cases, we also had to tear through LARGE berms to get the water off the road. Digging two-feet ditches through that hard-baked clay really took some effort -- and the four-wheelers who gave half of their weekened to maintaining access to this trail kicked ass!

We did way more than the BLM thought we could, and now they KNOW they can call on us to help. It is what we have been telling them all along (we care, we're organized, and we SHOW UP to volunteer!) -- but we proved it. RCRC really stepped up to take the lead on organizing and manning this cleanup effort, but the volunteers included independents and club members alike, with attendees from the Boonie Bouncers club, the River City Rock Crawlers Club, the Pirates of the Rubicon Club, the Sierra Treasure Hunters Club, as well as the www.4x4Wire.com, www.Pirate4x4.com, and www.RCRC.com bulletin boards. Membership from these same people include Blue Ribbon Coalition, California Four Wheel Drive Clubs Association, Friends of the Rubicon, Tread Lightly, United Four Wheel Drive Association... probably more that I have forgotten!

Kudos to all who showed up... have some aspirin and coffee and rest up -- there's a Friends of the Rubicon work day coming up next Saturday, 11/09
