Mother nature stopped us at about 4pm with a nice deep pool of water (4-5ft deep). We'll be back in a few weeks to attempt more of the trail when the water dries up, a monsoon season bypass is in the works.

About halfway up my ball joints seperated on the passenger side and took out the axle with em. Put it back together and threw in the spare with the same result a little later. Called in some help to bring me new ball joints and some axles and finished the trail at 11:00(started at 8:00) It was a fun day for me:eek:

You'd be a perfect trail leader for the "locker challenged" crowd if you are interested:)
elf_cruiser 11-04-2002, 08:49 PM hey man, it wasn't my bad - you need to talk to the asian that was giving the hand signals...
RHINO 11-05-2002, 04:58 AM You'd be a perfect trail leader for the "locker challenged" crowd if you are interested
i might be up for that
elf you talkin to me? my chinese buddy gives hand signals backwards ya know.
YELLER BLAZER 11-05-2002, 08:04 AM Ok Crawler and I have been talking about coming out to see ya'll but we can't (or atleast I can't) make this event looks like it will be a blast. We hope to hook up with ya'll before too much more time gets by!
McSoo 11-05-2002, 10:01 AM YOU NO UNASTAN DA WERDS DAT COME OUTTA MY MOUT??!?!?! MIKEY SAY GO LEF, NO RIGH!!!! STOOPID AMERICAN! YOU NO LISTEN TO CHINAMAN AND MESSUP BIG TIME!!!!
I'll be down with the locker-challenged group... Sorta... I guess I'm kinda in between... What's in between? I wanna be in that class...
elf_cruiser 11-05-2002, 10:56 AM yeah McSoo, you suck at backing people up to hitches, dude. I can do it better by getting out every 6" and looking at it...
McSoo 11-05-2002, 11:00 AM It wouldn't have been so hard if you would have turned the wheel like I was pretending to do... You should have gotten a gas engine for your tow rig.. Then you could hear what I was saying instead of clug clug clug clug clug clug.... :D
Erich In AZ 11-05-2002, 01:18 PM I'm gonna try to get paroled for this weekend so I can join the (not so) esteemed 'locker-challenged' group. The wife has been really damn sick (morning sickness) so I will have to see how it goes but I'm gonna give it a shot. I'm sure you guys could use a good anchor point for your winches anyways. My suburban should work just fine!
:D

What do you like to run at Table Mesa? Lower Terminator? Raw Deal? with ifs and a rear locker (you haven't done a SAS yet have you?) Terminator can be a challenge, but is definately doable. We have been thinking that everyone can just show up, get together in groups of similar rigs, and take off to whichever trail suits them. I don't think it is going to be real structured.
coyote 11-05-2002, 07:24 PM Larry....so how is the bouncing baby buggy?...got pic's yet? or are you packing it in until after the holiday's?

The new buggy is far from done, but I do have purdy new coilovers and stuff to look at in the shop. The old rig got a quick reskinning and will have to last a few more months. My hope is to be ready to do some rock crawling comps next spring. Ever get the FJ's cooling sys. figured out? You are missing some choice wheeling. Hope you can make the party ......

coyote 11-05-2002, 07:51 PM I personally blame you, jack, and camo for getting my head in tube's....think I found one hell of a vacuum leak and retuned it....seems to be running better and back in normal ranges...good vacuum again and temps below 185 with...also put on a good shroud....might need to do some fender trimming for the hotter times...plan on going out and bringing some wood, just let me know what you would like me to bring...thought I might rent a small camper....anyone going to make a field toy to jump....talking to a buddy about bringing out the sand rail.....

There are two waterholes. They are about 1/2 way through the trail. So, do you want to help complete this bad boy? Maybe, we'll go back this weekend to make some more progress. Let us know.

Looks like I am probably out for this weekend. Thanksgiving weekend is looking good though........ I wan't some of that next waterfall . the 5 foot vert' that was under water will make it a neat chute to play on. Maybe you can come out and play then smalltime?

How are you guys getting access to the Tanks? Drove by there last weekend and all of our usual entrances looked torn up due to home construction.

I don't work on Fridays. What did you have in mind? I might be interested. If it's something new, I am as good as there.
ChrisE 11-14-2002, 07:10 AM Jack- what time were you looking at for Saturday at Table mesa? About 8 or 9am?
smalltimewheeler 11-14-2002, 08:12 AM I'm getting ther off of miller, backtracking to watson and in.
I'm heading to reno tonight so I was looking for some takers for the 6th day for this morning or afternoon...Somebody e-mail me directions and i'll be much abliged. That trail of jims is something to check into, 10 min. off i-10, exits right to a road not like some crazy bastard that built asylum:D  .Just wondering if that 6th day was up by boulder creek past the terminators?????
beyondhelp 11-14-2002, 05:25 PM Hey, do you think there'd be room around the campfire for a car driving tourist from Florida? Like I posted in chit-chat, I'll be in the area and free at about 5 Thursday and Friday. It looks like it's an hour away from where I'll be if mapquest is correct.
Would I be welcome? In the way? I'm trying to decide if I want to try and make the trip.
I may be a newbie but hey it's worth a shot.
pmurf1 11-14-2002, 06:12 PM 6th day is 10 minutes or so past Predator and Annihilator. You'll be on it before long. I'm in for wheeling this weekend. Sick of the Bob Vila home improvement shit, I need a break.
That Asylum "exit" road is a mother, especially at night with 5 other trucks and breakage. I'll winch back down the waterfall before I slide down that fucker again.

Of course. Everyone is welcome.
RE:Todd 11-14-2002, 07:52 PM How long are the trails compared to JV?? Couple hours or all day?? I assume we can access the trails from camp with non street legal rigs??
smalltimewheeler 11-14-2002, 07:54 PM A buddy of mine has been telling me about an area up there for a couple of years, I do most of my exploring in the tanks...You should have been on the way out of asylum the first time i went down it:eek:     . I was by myself with the old cruiser, scary as hell. That road was made about the 3rd attempt, I dropped off alot worse spot than that previosly. And i have winched down that fall.  The falls before the big one is the mother to come down, Jason Paule about had a cow there.
AZFord4x4 11-15-2002, 10:53 AM I'll try to be out...
I'm going to try to make the hammers for T-giving, if I can get the truck set up in time. Finally gonna fix some shit right cuz I'm tired of constantly fuk'n with it. But as long as the truck is alive, I'm in.
The camp spot has been changed due to motor home access problems and County park regs. We will be at our "usual" camp spot. See the link in the thread on the top of the suzuki board for directions. See everyone there!
