Ok...Never had a fuel pump go out on me so I have to ask some questions...
The pump had a hole in it that looks to be what was puking out the gas...is this a High pressure bypass? due to clogged fuel filter?
So I bought a new pump and then pulled the old one...the lever arms are configured totally different.
In the link below the "bad" pump is on top, and the "new" one is on bottom. This pump is what the guy shows for the part number...will this new one work or should I look for part number...blah blah blah?

The hole is for when the diaphragm fails it will not fill your crankcase with gas!

OHHHHHH....well then that is a good reason for having a hole!!
What about the lever arms? I am assuming that due to the length, and the aproach of the arm, that the lower pump is....
NOT THE RIGHT FUCKING PUMP?
Hope that I still have the reciept!

Jeezus Chiefy, could you at least try and spell phonetically so I can figure out what you're saying?? :flipoff2:
My pump just gave out the same way a few months ago. Started pissing gas out the little hole in the side. I got a new mechanical pump from Checker, and the lever was configured differently, but after bolting it up, it works just fine.
I'd try it, it only takes a couple of minutes to swap the pump anyway. And if it still doesn't work, then I'd return it. Otherwise, you should be good to go.
