: Red rocks in Vegas area?
SoCalCrawling 11-07-2010, 01:57 PM I have seen pictures of people wheeling in some big red rocks from the Vegas area does anyone know where they are? And is it a big place? I live in SO CAL but am looking to come up and do some wheeling if it is worth the trip? Any help would be great..
Thanks
MandAtaco 11-08-2010, 12:47 PM Your probably talking about Logandale, NV, the logandale trail system. Lots of big red rocks to play in and some sand. It'w where VV4W hold the annual Hump N Bump. Logandale is about 45min to an hour north of Las Vegas, heading up the I-15 toward Utah.

SoCalCrawling 11-08-2010, 12:59 PM Yea that looks like the place.. How big is it and how do you get there? Is it worth planning a few day trip to?
Grand_98 11-08-2010, 01:15 PM to get there stay on the 15, go through Vegas and keep going until you get to Logandale pretty easy.
I've never wheeled there so I can't comment on if its worth it or not.
SoCalCrawling 11-08-2010, 01:18 PM sounds easy to get to. Can you camp there? or is there any fees?
MandAtaco 11-08-2010, 02:24 PM Yea, there are places to camp, they are all "rustic" spots though, no utility's. On your way out to the OHV area, you'll pass some toilets on the right, and then go down a little hill. Once at the bottom of the hill, and where they black top ends, the trail splits. If you stay straight then you'll head out toward the sand, if you go right, then you will see where everyone camps. There are no fee's at this time to use any of this, just remember to pack it in and pack it out. There are quite a few clubs and organizations that have put in a ton of time to keep this area open to the public and OHVers.
If you go here, http://www.vv4w.org/trails.asp, I think you'll find maps for most of the trail's out there. Have fun!
MandAtaco 11-08-2010, 02:26 PM I've got a GPS file for that area that has most of the trails on it (I think). If you want I can send it out to you in GPX format. You can just convert that to anything you use.

How big is this place? is there a few days worth?
MandAtaco 11-08-2010, 03:26 PM I've spent a few days out there before exploring everything.
SoCalCrawling 11-08-2010, 03:50 PM how hard is that area? and trails? Are you board after a day?

Logandale is as hard as you want to make it,lots of buggy only climbs and trails. While you could hit every marked trail in one day,2 days there will give you more time to explore the area and not rush through all the trails. It's a very scenic area, lots to enjoy.Definitly worth the trip.:)
SoCalCrawling 11-08-2010, 05:02 PM Sounds good I have a buggy so there is plenty to keep from being board? Is it open Camping or camp grounds?

Thats a good way to put it. Camping is open, no camp ground. I think there is about 10-15 spots, tucked back in the red rock, that are really nice.

How many times are you gonna ask if it will be boring? :shaking: Seriously, just fawkin' go. Your tastes may differ. If you don't like it, then drive back where you come from. :shaking:
edit: It's BORED, not board
