Some official advance info....

There will be a series of 4 events, in Hotsprings Arkansas over the 03 yr, first one in March, I should have the schedule in a few days, look for Superlift to update their site too.

There will be some sponsor money, prizes for both each event and the series points. Saturdays will be all day with woods type courses, hill climbs etc. Sunday will be rocks only and the day will wrap early to give people time to get home.

Points from your 3 best events are used for the series. The courses will be designed for the larger midwestern type rigs.

See you there!

is sports in the rough putting it on?

This is not a Bob Hazel series. Personally I don't mind running his comps but I know some people think differently on that.

Most of what I've seen on Bob is web-wheeler bashing bandwagon stuff. Not saying he's a saint but I don't think he deserves near the chit he gets.

The promoters intention is to make money on gate traffic and concessions. All competitor registration goes to the purse, less a small land use fee for the park.

This sounds really cool.

Larger midwestern type rigs? as in 90 inches wide and 120" wheelbase? If so I'm in.

hey ken, were you at the event back in Sept?? just curious on this one..

also, is it going to be points based or is it going to be timed?? the one is sept was timed only, and from what I saw down there, there really wasn't *too* much in the way of flat trails... mostly up and downhills... course, this was on the few of the trails that I saw only...

Hayraker,
I'd say you'll fit right in, maybe a touch long on the wheelbase but i suspect there'll be quite a few hillclimbs so that should be in your favor.

I was not at the September event- it was two days before i had to leave for a Cedar city event and i did not want to risk breakage. John Loyd is doing most of the course layout and design as well as rules- right now he's open for suggestions. I suspect the woods stuff will be "looser" scoring with more emphasis on the stopwatch. He knows he needs to keep this in check though to keep the crowds safe.

The rocks will be "trials" scoring similar to most rock comps. I don't think the spotter will be tuggin on vehicles or ropes.

i didn't think I saw you there... I would remembered if I had... unforunately, I didn't get to stay for the whole thing, just saw part of one of the small class course, part of the big class, and then back over to small class... are there more rock gardens or anything around the park? we didn't get to drive around or anything, we went just to see the comp. If they could build a garden or something, that would be a good idea...

was wondering about that... if john is at the next club meeting, i may hafta pick his brain on it...

Adam, You're a diehard if you're going to trek from AZ to AR for this- or are you an AZ newbie and don't realize yet the AZ is AZ and AR is AR??:flipoff2:

Joey- I look forward to running with you and everyone else- it's never over til it's over! Are you going to fill up with helium or cross your fingers or toss your front 30- that's a lot of risk in a comp with those 38.5sx's you're swinging! Put that's ok, the more prize money the better:flipoff2:

my bitch with sitr is payout. when you pay 350 bucks to enter a event i would expect the prize money to be much more than 1000.00 i know everyone needs to make a living but damn. how much is the entry? mike

Again- this is not a BH series.

FWIW- I like prize money as much as the next guy. When I won Bob's Cedar City event I collected $2100 in total cash and about $1500 in total prizes. Not as lucrative of other events but acceptable nonetheless. and yes, much of that was funded by sponsors- BFG, Superlift, Randy's and Detroit- all spends the same and the opportunity brought to me by BH.

Entry & prize money is a funny thing. Everyone's got their own idea of what "minimum" payout is. Generally, it's 100% of entry fees, or some fixed purse that looks pretty good (even if it ends up being less than 100% on a day when tons of competitors show up). That's always kind of been my "line" of what makes an event "legitimate" or not. But, I had some guys tell me weird stuff. One mud racer didn't want to pay a $40 entry fee, even though he said it would cost him $100 in gas to get there. Said he was used to $20 entry fees. Turns out, he would rather go to an unsanctioned race that pays 80% of entry fees as prize if the entry was $20 instead of 100% payout on a sanctioned race with a $40 entry  And for someone to be willing to spend $100 on gas, who would have thought he'd balk at a $40 entry fee. But he did, and come race day he didn't show up (probably wouldn't have anyway is my guess).
