We cut the frame right behind the body mount at the B pillar.

Me and fatkid thought about turning the rear half into a rickshaw, but I need a few of those parts :D

This is as far as we got this weekend. As you can see, that part of the shop is reserved for "Half Rigs Only":flipoff2:

Mustard Dog
11-04-2002, 03:50 PM
We're also having the trans and t-case rebuilt while they're out, and adding this beauty, a Marlin Toybox. My only concern with that right now is that big dowel pin at the top, there's nowhere for it to fit in the t-case:confused:

Mustard Dog
11-04-2002, 03:51 PM
And after all that hard work, I was dyin to take a leak:eek:

Mustard Dog

I have a few items for sale;)

The full cage, with the really nice seats.

Rear bumper/tire rack/cooler carrier.

Diamond plate drop down tailgate.

And an Advanced Adapters plate for an SM420/3 speed case combo.

So far so good. How long you going to make it????

Mustard Dog
11-04-2002, 04:03 PM
Check YOUR pm's Glo.:D

The plans are to do a full awn tube rear end, narrowed and a little longer. We're running inboarded (as much as we can on a Cruiser axle) F150 springs that will add 10 inches. New cage of course as well as some nice seats, and a few other additions ;) The best part is that we plan on making new diamond plate skins that will look like Cruiser:D

What is the wheelbase going to be?

As for the MArlin box, the dowel should be above the top part of the case. looks like it will JUST clear.

Wheelbase should be at 100, if we flip the front springs it will go to 104. ;)

It is possible it will not clear the top of the tcase. If so you will need to grind a VERY small amount to make it fit. On the 4 I have put together. They ALL cleared.

I take it you are't fabbing it all at your apartment, and there is no facilities at the merry go round, so Whos doing it up Phil, Mike, Gredy, Bob.??
its gunna be bitchen when your shits on coil overs, you are gunna have to lose some weight from somewhere though if you want to keep up with my new rig. Hahaha

where and why did your spring bend? is it because they are so long that when you back into something they kink up near the forward spring hanger? just curious. i see alot of the mini toy guys running the long full size truck spring packs and i wonder why. yes they probably flex good but they hang so far back behind the tire it hurts departure angle.

Looking good, as for the welder it's a Lincoln Power MIG 200. It's a nice machine for what we do. As for the the materials being used I would have like to have used some lighter material for a few things, but there are times when you just have to use whats on your shelves. The cross Member is thick but I don't think it's going to make a huge impact on the over all plan. We shall see. :)

The skins will hang from the side rail with some screws. They will wrap around the back to the vertical tubes so it will have an open tailgate look, we have son fender flares for it too.:D

The main reason for the skins is to make it still look like a Cruiser rather that a full on buggy.

The skins will hang from the side rail with some screws. They will wrap around the back to the vertical tubes so it will have an open tailgate look, we have son fender flares for it too.:D

The main reason for the skins is to make it still look like a Cruiser rather that a full on buggy.

So you are going to use the old skins from the tub you removed? ...just minus the bed and rear doors?

KICK ASS.

Are you going to <BLING> paint it after it's all done? or just leave it?

Can't use the old skins cause the body is 8" longer, we have a nice new shiny sheet of diamond plate for them. I'm also gonna put the emblems back on, and we used the original tail lights:D

It will probably get a new Krylon paint job in a few weeks.

Me too:D

I talked to the techs at the lab a couple hours ago and they said the exhaust is done, as well as the wiring to the tail lights. Tommorow the skins go on, and the line lock gets wired, and then it's pretty much done:D

Ok, just got back from a good weekend at the Hammers.

Tin Bender and fatkid were working on the rig all the way through Friday:eek: Thanks a lot bros:beer:  It showed up on the lakebed about 8 on Friday night, too bad by then I was WAY too hammered to do a trail.

In the morning we went and did Jackhammer North with desertoy, Lance, Todd, Air Bag, and Aaron. It was pretty cool to finally have some low gears, the rig just chugged up the rocks.

Carnage was some mashed diamond plate, brand new diamond plate, and a motor mount :(

that is around 1718 kilograms

which is around 4 or 500 kilograms lighter than my rig.....

it would be better on fuel, for both itself and the tow vehicle, better to tow, more reliable on axles, and probably would go a fair bit better

How we mounted up the propane tanks.

Mustard Dog
12-07-2002, 11:53 AM
Here's the new crossmember Tin Bender came up with. We used a mini truck t-case mount to the Toy Box, much better than the one that bolted up to the back of the Cruiser 3 speed case. We were also able to tuck everything much higher than it was. Also check the great exhaust routing Bender did;)

and when (i forgot the name) painted the tcase and whatnot, did he use new hardware? It all looks zinc coated to me.

I won't lie. I don't like it. The fabrication, propane setup and everything are badass, but there's just something that doesn't look right. However, If the diamond plate was black, I think it would look badass. That is what I think is making it look weird, all of the chrome.

It does look awesome man... no doubt..

I wouldn't necessarily add more bodywork behind the rear tires, but I'd add some sort of protection for the shackles.. backing into something could bend a spring otherwise, no? Or would it just flex it?
