It will be running 35's actually - although I love those on there! I need to go flex it up to check those clearances - may just cut for the 38's ;)

I will bump stop if it hits - the springs are allready flat so I don't want to destroy em with too much uptravel, look at that shackle angle - most of my travel is dooowwwn..

Your name isn't too bad either, how did you come up with it? ;)

Looks good dude! That shackle angle is interesting, but other than that, its cool. Where you gonna put a tank? In the tub?

I need to cut the bracing and put a CJ5 tank in, if it fits with the axle back. It is a M38A1 so the tank used to be below the bracing that 5's don't have if that makes since. Anyway, that one doesn't fit anymore but I was hoping a CJ5 one would since it will tuck up mich higher

I am a woppin 86" ;)

yep, front 2" forward, rear 4" back - I don't like the cut front fender look and same with the rear so I pushed it all I could - oh well :)

so what all did you do to get the rear back?

new hangers, and the extreme shackle angle. Hanger is actually almost in the same spot in the front, back a tad (partially on the bumper) in the rear. I did it to swap to the wider springs since it was a 53'. I also put 3 hole perches on the axles and it is in the middle hole now so I can go back one more inch..

I might make some longer shackles to get a bit more lift and less angle

If you're srings really are flat then that shackle angle is perfect. Flat springs mean that at rest you have the largest angle that shackle will see. So 45 degrees (what it appears to be) is a great angle.

I run about the same setup on the front of my YJ. Almost perfectly flat springs with a shackle angle of about 35-40 degrees. It works great. The shackle only increases angle for the first 1" or so of up movement then the shackle starts pulling back when the spring goes into a negative arch. Everyone ask me why it's like that and I love telling em "I dunno know" in my best Gomer Pyle voice but it really works good and amazes everyone around with the droop you get, and I got the front end out 2.5" with something other than 44044's. IMO I'd leave it just like you got it and when people ask why, just say "I dunno know"
That'll keep em guessing.

what kinda springs are those back there?

No not a top secret or anything just some shit I had laying around and ideas I had. The main leaf is a K5 blazer Superlift spring, the rest is a conglamoration of other springs I had laying around. It took a few tries to get the spring weight and ride and ride height worked out but now it seems to work real good. I have always run pretty much flat springs and worked with other stuff to get tire clearance(1" BL and a sawzaw) but these seem to work really well. I just changed them again adding a small leaf to the bottom after they got broken in so we'll see in a couple of weeks if I still like them as much. If not I'll do 44044's but I'm not financialy free to do what ever so this was a way to save a couple hundred bucks. I get some pics if you want.
