I am in the middle of swapping a 68 Corvette MC into my 72 CJ5. I was just wondering how to get my break lights working again. There is no hole to screw the stock break switch into the new MC.

Thanks,
Tim

You're talking about the check brakes light. You don't really need it unless you can't think about the brakes when you apply them.
The brake light switch should run off a mechanical switch on the brake pedal.

Really? I did not think there was a switch at the petal. I will double check. Also, the lights do not work with out that check switch hooked up. Can I bypass it somehow, assuming I have a switch at the petal?

If the brake lights don;t work w/o that switch, then just install a mechanical switch and route the wires to it.

On a 72 there is no mechnical switch unless your running 74 or better swing pedals.

On the 72 it is a pressure switch to activeate the brakes. The Pressure switch can be run off a tee plumed into the brake lines.

MIKE from the board has his set up this way.

Yep-Yep, when I set up the brakes and lines on my 59 cj5 I bought a pressure switch that went in-line via a tee. This switch was then hooked up to a relay that kicks the brake lights on.... NAPA is where i got my switch and it was around $10.. The napa man told me that this type of switchs where used alot on older fords????

Anyway it was simpl to hook-up and what graet! :D

The best thing about the pressure switch operated brake light setup is that if you lose pressure the the system, you won't confuse other motorists with your brake lights, they won't work if your brakes don't work, so everyone will know you're not stopping when you can't. Now if you just rigged a horn button under the brake pedal for when the pedal goes to the floor....
