We are about to purchase a 48' stacker trailer and are going to build the inside ourselves. One of the projects is a car lift in side the trailer. We are wanting to use a winch or 2 for power and only needs to lift about 2500 pounds. Any ideas? We have seen a few before using 2x4 steel but now that we are looking wecant find any. we were thinking that it doesnt need pads to drive up on, since it is for a light dragboat on a small dolly trailer built from 2x4 steel, we would just pull it in then put the cross bars underneith it and lift it. The dolly trailer will be pinned or bolted into place to keep from sliding.

The guy I used to work for mounted a four post lift on his trailer. It wasn't enclosed though, don't know if that would work for you.

Most lifts that I can purchase are way too wide for the inside of a trailer. The few that are are really expensive. Thats why Im trying to build one.
