Got any idea where to find one? I tried summit, they have one but its a 12 V in dash version and I'm looking for one that plugs into a multi-meter....

Cant you just weld in a sensor bung, get a sensor from the bone yard and hook up you meter?

Looking to just slide a meter or probe into the exhaust...but thought about it...but not sure how to read the value that gets displayed....

Get A four wire O2 sensor,

the two white wires go to 12VDC
the gray and black go to a Digital volt meter
200 millivolts is about lean 500 - 800 is rich

Search the web , or let me know I'll post some links.

The sensor needs to be no more than 24" from the manifold.

This link contains a calibration curve for the generic 1-wire O2 sensors as well as some good detailed carb theory. You can use a junkyard (~$20 new) sensor and a cut off spark plug non-fouler for a bung.

Only for the "one wire" sensor.

The "three or four" wire sensors have built in heaters, so they can be mounted further downstream.

I modified a exhaust pipe that would slip over the tail pipe. NTK four wire (OEM nissan) was used to measure if rich/lean. As already pointed out, simple DVM was used to measure the voltage. Also for you EE's, if you measure the heating current you can get a pretty good idea of exhaust temp! (i.e. cold start, or up to temp).

Just make sure your adapter is long enough that you don't let any errant O2 come IN up the exhaust pipe and foul the readings!

I like the anti-foul gizmo for a bung.. cool!
