Dookey 11-25-2010, 10:19 PM Pics of stripes?
toykilla5150 11-25-2010, 10:51 PM Do it.
Fudpucker 11-25-2010, 11:06 PM Go for it. It should bolt right in
Finaltheorem47 11-25-2010, 11:41 PM It's going to take a ton of work. I also don't think the stock cherokee structure can handle something that heavy. The front end would have to be converted to frame, and that's just the tip of the iceburg I'd guess. All the power to ya though if you do it. Your sucess would inspire others (like me) who are interested but turned away by the vast unknown amount of work required.
domt forget the stacks and truck nuts
GreatWhiteXJ 11-26-2010, 06:33 AM Ummm....lots of tube. Youll never get a unibody to handle a big diesel. You could plate the shit out of it and Im sure it still rip itself apart.
Look at FreeRiders Build up. If you removed the front clip....... and about 90% else of the rig ::laughing:.... you might have a shot. At that point count on a 10K plus build with your motor/tranny/tcase...then axles, tube, suspension etc.
Go find a 4BT diesel. Or check out the Benz Diesel build. Much more realistic.
enigma2y0u 11-26-2010, 07:27 AM This stupid stuff always makes me laugh. You want to take a perfectly good truck and put it all in a stamped sheetmetal jeep.
If you are going to do that much work, make/buy a tube buggy and put the stuff in that.
Narrow, dovetail, and bob the dodge; then drive it.
phillyzj 11-26-2010, 08:46 AM cut the XJ up and bolt it to the dodge frame. done.
bmlzj 86 11-26-2010, 09:32 AM Go for it. It should bolt right in
x2 :flipoff2:
littlejoe83 11-26-2010, 11:28 AM well i found a 90 dodge with every thing i need... and i think that it is just going to be better to move the body over and call it done.. save my money and make it a 4 link

i want to try and get secs for a 4 link if anyone has them
Fudpucker 11-27-2010, 12:21 AM Great idea. That's stupid simple really. With any luck a few of the bodymount holes will line up so you can set a cool 5" BL right away.
But won't the Cherkee body be longer than the Dodge? I think you need to stretch the frame about a foot.
scyota92 11-27-2010, 12:35 AM Go for it. It should bolt right in
obvi its gonna bolt right in..dodge makes jeep..same cars basicslly..slap it in there :grinpimp:
Fudpucker 11-27-2010, 12:45 AM Damn.. if Dodge=Jeep then won't everything just fit right in? Mounts, wire harness, computers, gauges... Fuck, it's a clean swap. Why hasn't this been done a million times already??
Edit : My bad, it's been done plenty. I had to google New Zealand Dodge to Jeep Cummins diesel swap. The whole diesel thing is way bigger over there. I don't know much New Zeelandish so i just used the Google translater.
ashmanjeepXJ 11-27-2010, 07:13 AM Dont be sheenin the 5.9
Id like to see one in a cherokee, would be a bad ass daily driver.
I pictured a 4 door Cherokee cab with a Comanche short bed behind it, stretched and a dually.

littlejoe83 11-27-2010, 11:41 AM No the dodge wheel base is 131 and the xj is 101 so I'm going to have to cut down the frame and/or move the axles but I will see how the body sits after I the them both striped down

i'd rather see what Ashman suggested...a quadcab comanche dually might actually end up cool.
PilotGuyZJ 11-27-2010, 05:43 PM why hasnt anyone told this guy yet that a XJ doesnt have body mounts?? :shaking:
Whats he planning on bolting to the frame? using double ended studs and drilling holes?
Might as well build a tube buggy on top of the dodge frame, and cut off the XJ body panels and skin the buggy with them! :grinpimp:
Problem solved.

I can build body mounts.. I don't want to make it a tube bugy cuz I want to make it street legal
