: Weekend Report Nov 27-28
JetFxr 11-28-2010, 05:02 PM I'll start, Thursday ate turkey worked on HCS, then Friday I met Scout Broker and did a deal to hook him with a set of shoes. Saturday got cabin fever so we went to the gun show that was in town, man I have a great GF she bought me a International Harvester M1 Grand collector grade for my Christmas gift. Sunday out to the shop for a minute but watched it snow all day. Pictures of the gun when I pick it up, government delayed my paperwork for a week because of the holiday. Picture of GF anyway:smokin:
Urban Wheeler 11-28-2010, 05:31 PM Picked up a wrecked Grand Prix as a motor donor for my Fiero.
Had a party, turned into half the city showing up before my roomate kicked everyone out.
Worked on the Scout steering for a bit, the BTF DE cylinder mount needs modified to sit in the center.
That's about it.
Mechanos 11-28-2010, 05:33 PM Only thing IH related I did was cut some firewood out at my buddy's place. We used his Farmall 7xx series with a front end loader to clear all the scrub out from around a pair of 20+ inch white oaks. Then after dropping them, we used the tractor with a pair of log tongs to skid the trees out to the "road" where we cut them up, split all the logs and loaded them onto a flatbed to haul it out of the woods. That tractor is a beast.

I call bullshit if you were at Fugly's. There is no way that you could get that much work done in one day with Tom. Were your ears tired at the end of the day listening to him talk?
Still stuck in NY trying to get our new baby out of hawk. We adopted!

Congrats on the new baby!
I had a great Thanksgiving, followed by the last day of Elk hunting and they won again:shaking:
Saw the Scout :shaking::shaking: and avoided the honey do list for the rest of the weekend. :D
mountainguyed67 11-28-2010, 07:17 PM Ate turkey dinner with the family,had 21 present.
Swapped out A broken rear brake drum and replaced the shoes. Because it was A dually originally, the brake drums are exposed on the inside. It must have hit A rock on the last trail run. Will have to build A skid plate of some sort.
Delivered two cords of oak firewood with my rig(C1300).
binderbound 11-28-2010, 07:52 PM Worked thursday and friday.
Wandered around the garage/back yard the rest of the weekend.
'71 800B 11-28-2010, 08:18 PM Cleared snow out of the driveway's and around the front and back of the house. Then the snow slid off of the roof ....... Sooo I cleared the snow from the front and back of the house again:mad3:
Made a bank turn on the wheel chair ramp so the kids can go alllll the way to the bottom...............:D pulled the front wheel off of the scout so I could get one of the snow blowers out of the garage. Easier to pull the wheel off than to move the scout.
Pretty baby, wish you all the best:grinpimp:
BBQ a 19lbs turkey, eat, eat, eat. :)
Tried to find my radiator leak on Friday, only to notice the puddle at the rear of the intake manifold:mad3: Pulled the intake on Sat. The leaking plug was so thin it was a bitch to get out. Got 5 new expansion plugs from NAPA. Sunday removed and hammered in the new expansion plugs. Used that nasty brown permatext #1 to make sure they stay put for the next 100 years.
The worst part is the leak is in the radiator:mad3::mad3: so maybe next weekend I can find that. Can't bitch too much, since I found it at home vs the trail.

I wish you luck on the baby deal!
Yes, I was at Fugly's and amazingly, it was our most productive day yet. I showed up at about 9:30 and by the time we got into the woods... it was probably about 11 or 11:30 (bs'ing and whatnot). I couldn't believe it either, but we packed at least a cord of split white oak out of the woods before sundown. The key was the big Farmall. Using it to drag whole trees out of the woods and right up next to the log splitter really sped things up.
JetFxr 11-28-2010, 08:54 PM Very cute baby, Congrats :smokin: You may as well get one of those HF carports for your Scout, your done for a while dude. But the good part is the Scout will wait and you new adventure will be a lot more rewarding.
budget76 11-28-2010, 09:58 PM can finally post something again. Got the hydroboost installed in dad's scout, and got the tranny back in the 62' Nova so it can be driven again:smokin: Also fixed some small crap on the BMW, threw the snow tires on, and spent 6hrs today studying for 3 exams two weeks before finals:rolleyes:
Chief yelling alot 11-28-2010, 10:43 PM Hauled a tote (264 GL) of B100 (bio diesel) for work

Scout Broker 11-29-2010, 08:34 AM Drove the fam to Montana to spend Thanksgiving with my brother in law and his wife. Ate way to much and went sledding in 5* weather.
While there I also met up with Jetfxr and liberated some scrappy wheels and tires from him. :flipoff2:
They look so much better in my shop. :smokin:

.. and didn't swing through Helena on your way home, either...
Between finishing the cut/hang of the drywall and the first round of mud+tape+sanding of the basement bathroom I was supposed to have done 5 years ago, I found time to fiddle in the shop a little.
Used my new Mastercool hydraulic flare tool to install an adjustable proportioning valve. It worked so slick, I even did an extra flare because I couldn't be bothered to install the tube-nut first.
Tore the carb apart and cycled the bits through the carb dip.
Pulled the exhaust apart to replace the donut - haven't re-installed yet.
Found a brake leak at the rear brake line where it goes to the flexible jumper to the caliper.
Mucked out the shop a bit, but still a good ways to go.
Spent some money with Jeff @ IH Only and Glancy @ SSS on misc crap I'm going to need before long. My supply of thermostats and cap n' rotors was getting low. :D
Drove the '73 around a good bit (enough to run two tanks of fuel through it this month.. when it sat for 2-3 months and burned 0 fuel before). Need to repair a rear shock mount now.
1971scout2 11-29-2010, 11:11 AM I started work on the new 440 and picked up a PS Box rebuild kit so I can finish my hydraulic assist.
jrad12381 11-29-2010, 05:14 PM I worked all weekend. When I got off today, I labeled all my wiring to prepare for the body swap. Hopefully I will knock it out on Thursday. I also picked up my compressor from my house in Reno as well as a tube bender, notcher and a plasma cutter from a friend to start on my cage.
sprout4two 11-30-2010, 06:25 PM Congrats on the new baby!
Thanks!
I wish you luck on the baby deal!
......The key was the big Farmall. ......
Thanks! Can you believe that Tom drove that big bastard from Kingsville to Pleasant Hill!
Very cute baby, Congrats :smokin: You may as well get one of those HF carports for your Scout, your done for a while dude. But the good part is the Scout will wait and you new adventure will be a lot more rewarding.
Thanks! Can you believe that is three days after she was born. Good thing is that I do not need a HF Carport. Already have it put in a 30x50 barn. Just need to put up on Jackstands so I can be just like the rest of you! :p Well we will see if I can sneak out for a couple of day trips. I have some places a couple of hours away so I can sneak out and be back in the same day. Prolly done until March or so with winter unless we keep having these nice days.
Pretty baby, wish you all the best:grinpimp:
Kinda sad that the first picture that I post is of my baby. :homer: Scout is not Pirate worthy yet but maybe one of these days I will find a front 60 and then I can use the 14bolt and H1's sitting behind the barn.
Mechanos 11-30-2010, 08:26 PM ...the 14bolt and H1's sitting behind the barn.
So... how long are you going to be out of town???
okkool77 11-30-2010, 09:37 PM Ate way too much turkey and drank plenty of beer Thurs-Sunday...also got the fun job of dealing with a sick baby.
Scout related chit: Pressure washed the new to me intake, just have to drill and tap the thing for my power steering. Also stared at the carb and tried to will it onto the intake.

JetFxr 12-01-2010, 12:28 AM First thanks to Scout Broker for the final touches to my bar. He delivered the trim for my bar, that Gary Billing made for me. Over the top for a Scout Guy:smokin:
JetFxr 12-01-2010, 12:38 AM I promised pictures so here it is, this is over the top. I guess I am not going to get anything else for Christmas, but I am still going to hold out for a BJ :flipoff2:
reuben 12-01-2010, 08:06 AM that gun is badass, a few years back at the Tulare show there was one for sale. I think my wife would have divorced me if I would have paid what the guy was asking
JetFxr 12-01-2010, 09:29 AM 1350.00 don't know if that was a bad deal or not, but the gun is in good shape and it's not like you see them very often specialy here in Montana. I have the fridge, Scouch, and S-bar so the gun was just something on my bucket list.
1tonIHs2 12-01-2010, 10:24 AM Wednesday night I got called to rescue a buddy that was stuck in the snow, just needed a "quick tug". His cherokee didn't have reverse by the time I got there. Ended up being a 12hr rescue, didnt get home till 10:30AM on Turkey day.
Friday and saturday I worked on my rig hauler project.
Sunday I went snow wheelin in the scout.
okkool77 12-01-2010, 10:38 AM I think I saw that one a few months ago for the same price...for the condition its not overpriced. Great find.
highly undr8ed 12-01-2010, 05:12 PM I normally don't post too often, but what the hell...
Found out that a chevy blower motor NEEDS a resistor because 12v constant will pop the fuse. Also found out that a used wiper switch CAN be internally grounded so that it pops the fuse when shut off, lol
Other than that, took my built ish around a little bit in the snow... Just have to fix the wipers, heater, put side mirrors on, mount the fender flares I had cut, put on the mudflaps, and find a way to light up the license plate and she'll be (more or less haha) street legal :grinpimp:
Fawk, I hope this bish will be on the trails soon......
guidolyons 12-01-2010, 09:05 PM Robert JetFXR-Nice M1...She's a Keeepa (the wife and the rifle)
Been house hunting in Hawaii, I'm going crosseyed and blind...I think I found a place...should sign the lease later this week. Scout won't be here for another month.

Like the signature:laughing::laughing: I lived on the island a long time ago.
for like 6 months. Lots of fun when your 20 and single:grinpimp:
JetFxr 12-01-2010, 09:32 PM Spent a lot of time there when I was in service to my country, (USAF) that place gets about as big as a dime after a month or so. Remember the same drug dealers following you around "hey wana buy some bud" lol Have a great time over there and do get out and see the other islands, they are spectacular specially Kauai, would love to have had my SSII there.
guidolyons 12-01-2010, 10:00 PM I got no problem going to the beach every weekend. I think the Scout will look good with a surfboard strapped on top. :grinpimp:
sprout4two 12-02-2010, 11:07 AM So... how long are you going to be out of town???
Too fuggin late. I am back.
Guess I should see if the H1's are still behind the barn.
