I found 2 of these fronts. Are they just a 8 lug 44?? I tried the search but came up dry. The results were regarding newer stuff. These fronts I found are mid 70's

The 44-50 came in either 6 or 8 lug versions. they have .5" thick tubes more webbing on the casting.

So are parts readily avalible or not. I am going to pay very little for it. Its 8 lug would need to be switched to 6. I assume the carrier is the same a 44 so gears and lockers would be readily avaliable??Or should I find a regular 44

That is a regular D44. The -50 just means thick tubes and extra webbing. Same axles and everything that you can buy as a regular 44. Its nothing speacial just probably the strongest factory D44 housing you can get.

100 bones is a great price for a complete 8 lug D44. The standard 44's have 3/8" thick tubes.

Thanks for the info, Its complete out of a 76 chevy 3/4 ton, It dosen't have locking hubs I assume its full time 4 wheel drive. The other one I found is out of a dodge and has locking hubs but is not complete. I think it has flat tops thought. The chevy comes w a ff 14 bolt for another 100.00

What was the EXACT number cast into the lower webbing??????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?

Lets not get into a pissing match over a front 44. It has either 1/2 or 3/8" tubes. Big deal.

Rockslut, Thanks for the input. The front is mine..Now, gona strip the thing down and drop it off. To be narrowed.

Gotta unload this 8 lug stuff..Find some 6 lug.I am assuming I can just swap out the rotors to go to six lug. plan on starting first of the week.
