Is there a manual tranny swap for ZJ's with 5.2's? I searched and could only find info on xj/cj 5.2 swaps.

A limited quantity of '93 ZJ Sports came with a 5 speed.

Ya but were they 5.2 or 4.0. I was reading up on factory options and it said only the 4.0 ZJ's came with the 5-speed. I don't know if this is true or not though.

And they were only an option in the 4.0 L not the V8

So then what do you do if you want to have a manual transmission put in a ZJ?

Why not try to contact AA for adapters? How about checking out an NV4500 with an AA adapter.
There's always calling Adavanced adapters, or novak.

Why you pursuing a manual tranny anyway?

I don't like driving automatics b/c they don't shift when I want, lose power, and are a lot more complicated than manuals.

You musta got one of those trannies that doesn't have a 1 nd 2 selector. :D

Complicated, yes. Keep the fluid / fiter in good shape and hope to never have to crack it (wurx fer me).

Im with you Chris! I went from a manual, TO an auto, and I won't ever look back! The complications are well worth it when it comes to wheelin!

look for a wrecked 5spd ram with a 318. it will have a NV 3500 (i think), the bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, etc...

Would this bolt up to the 5.2 in a ZJ?

no, because the chrysler 318 in the ZJ is completely different from every other chrysler 318 ever produced.please tell me you're sensing the sarcasm...

Whats wrong with an auto?
I wish my Cherokee was an auto.

Just stick a shift kit and manual valve body in your auto. Less loss in power, and you get to shift it, plus don't have to worry about a third pedal on the trail. Fun chirping tires on the street too :D

I want something that actually takes skill and allows me to be in complete control. I just think they're more fun. But if the only way is automatic, I guess that is ok too. Thanks for your info guys! My next problem will be how to fit 36's on a ZJ w/ a 7" kit, 2" spacers and a little trimming.

well considering I run 35's with 4.5" lift, and if I cut a little more I could run 36's 9" lift shoudln't be a problem. Well to fit the tires, all the other problems you have from 9" lift might not be worth it. Might want to reconsider this, also check out JU, they like gay shit like that.

Ya I've heard a lot of problems with lifting ZJ higher than 6". Maybe I should just forget it and stick with my 4runner project. Then at least I wont have to bitch about puting measly 35's on it.
