If you just want a CAR with a diesel and not a truck you might try late 70's early 80's Caddys, Buicks,Pontiacs, and Oldsmobiles.. If you want a small diesel some Chevettes had a four cylinder Isuzu diesel..

There were some Isuzu mini pickups around with a diesel also, some even 4 wheel drive. Around here, you would only find one as a rusty hulk in the junkyard though. Motor would probably still be good anyway.

Another car w/diesel is a early 80's (maybe even 78 or 79) Cutlass with a 4.3L diesel. I've heard some phenomenal mileage - like 30+ MPG.
You can get a 6.2L truck pretty cheap... I got a spiffy 3/4-ton '84 Suburban - full load, with new TH400 and new injection pump for $3400 CDN.
I could have had more beater-ish ones for between $1-3k.

must be more of them there in Canada then. Their are NONE at any price listed in the local paper for weeks now. Not that I am in a hury, and to me a beater is LESS than 1k.

Just keep your eyes on the classifieds.Should come up with something for cheap. My buddy just got a 82 Sub. with the 6.2 for $900.He got lucky though. The guy thought the tranny was shot.Turns out the vaccume pump is bad and not making the tranny shift right.Still works fine just revs up than shifts.Blazin:D
