I can't really tear my Jeep apart until I get another vehicle. I am building a custom front, 3 link, 40" tires 4" or so stretch, low pinion. Double carden drive shaft. T-case is a 231 until I upgrade to a stak or something. Where should I set my pinion angle? I have it at 13* right now with 6* caster, but I think I need to point it a bet higher. The rig will be street driven using selectable hubs, the front drive shaft won't see a lot of high speeds, mostly slower crawling stuff. I am to the point where I am ready to start burning on my brackets and inner c's. I want to make sure and get the shit right. I know a low pinion aint ideal, I'll run a limit straps to keep the d shaft from binding at full droop. Some help would be nice:beer:

Low pinion is your prob. You can't do anything, or your castor will be off.

Bar in his post he describes that the C's aren't welded, so hes adjusting those seperately.

I don't think you're going to need all of that 13* of pinion angle, but you won't know for sure until your jeep is apart. I've found out that you have a little leeway in lining up the front pinion angle while using a double cardan shaft. Mine is off by a couple degrees with no vibration. How much lift ish do you think your going to run?

8 inch lift coils. I setup a high pinion 44 with the same lift at 13* and it was right on

well if thats the case you might need an extra degree or two to compensate between LP - HP!

I dunno though, sounds like you pretty much have it under control, you're just gunna have to wait and look :P

Thats the issue. I don't want to wait. Damn, I need another vehicle way to fucken cold to ride my motorcycle.

Your temps are right around 60...stop complaining. In Wi guys ride in December, Jan, Feb. When theres lots of snow on the ground. Just as long as the roads are dry.

True, but this time its stretched 3 inches and long arms instead of short. Was hoping somebody with similar setup could give me a starting point. does 15* sound about right?

Set your axle where u want it, estimate the collapse of the coils under weight, bolt in a driveshaft or use a length of tube from yoke to yoke, then set the pinion in line with the angle of the driveshsft. Then set your inner Cs to the castor you want, the set your coil buckets at zero.

At 8" of lift and a LP that's going to be a rough angle. With my Dana 300 clocked way down and only 6.5" coils it's descent with ~5 degree pinion angle on my LP44.
