Dana 60 front??? [Archive]

I have a chance for a 1988 Chev 3500 4x4 for $500 CDN (around $330 US) for a basically complete truck. Only thing missing is the 5.7 and the box. It is three hours away and the guys wife couldn't answer this for me. Is that year solid axle or independent? I know 88 was change over year to the newer style, but did the one tons change in 88? I want to pick the truck up, especially if it is 60 front.
I guess it is worth it regardless, but I really want to know about the front axle.

If it is a std cab, it will be independent. Crew cabs were still solid axle in 88. There might have been a few cab and chassis then that were the old body style.
