hi all. i have an interesting one for yah.i have a T5 from a 94 mustang that i am wanting to mate to a 196 slant 4 from a 71 IH scout II. the project is a 94 mustang demo derby car. i have searched all over he11 and back looking for info..
so my maine question is will it work.. i have found specs on the T5 but not mutch on the IH T18..
the T5 input is 7.85 long, 1 1/16 dia, .668 pilot, and 10 spline
now on the IH T18c i have found lots of contradicting info so im looking for the info i have for the T5 only for the T18.
my plan is to use the T5 with the T18 bell and the 196 IH and i have no idea on a clutch yet.

Why would you want an IH 4cyl in a Mustang, even a demo derby car? Just put a 5.0L in and be done with it.

This is just the kind of thing where you shake your head and say "What the fuck?"
Just save the trouble and pony up for a ford motor.

Exactly.
On second thought, I guess it wouldnt be AS bad if it was a 5.0 mustang engine going into a scout that would be in the demo-derby.
That would be kinda cool, I think!

Why on earth would you put an IH boat anchor into a Mustang?

Come on Binder, same reason 80% of these builds happen its free. Then after they spend thousands of man hours and dollars they figure out it was a dumb idea (and some never do):homer::homer::homer:
I found a deal on a Lambo V12, I need an adaptor to go from Lambo V12 to IH 5spd. This will be an awesome trail rig.
WHY? you ask.
1= caus i have the scout motor and the mustank needs a motor.
2= V8s not allowed in my class.(other whise i would run one of my SBCs in it)
3= if i need to buy a motor it will be a chevy 4.3
4= if i can make it work, WHY NOT?
the #1 answer of "why did you do that?" "BECAUSE I COULD!"

Well...the reason you didn't find any info on it is because...
it's probably not worth doing.
Just because it's free/readily available doesn't mean it won't be expensive.
You'll probably need to make a custom adapter plate and/or machine the bellhousing to get the T5 mated up to the 196.
Good luck.

Oh well it all makes sence now.:shaking:
i found info on the cj T18 and the input is an exact match to the fard T5. so if the IH T18 is the same as the CJ then it will work. the only isue may be the bell to trans mounting but i have drill, taps, and grinder. and like i sead if i have to dish out $$$ its gittin a 4.3/TH350:flipoff2:
