I bought a '79 HP 60, I hope. Last night I was looking for the BOM number and the 60 stamped in the housing. I couldn't find either!! Before I bought it the guy gave me the BOM number and I looked it up and it sounded right but now I can't find it anywhere on the axle. I thought it was right on the tube? Isn't there a 60 stamped in the webbing somwhere as well?? Not worried just curious.

On my 60 it is on the left tube looking at it from the diff cover side. It is close to the housing. The mfg. date was a little farther to the left. If you have never looked for a BOM before you will swear there isn't one. You just need to clean real good and make sure you have good eyes.

Call me crazy, but I go with the fact that the pinion is above the center line of the axle, is open knuckle, and it has king pins with a front to back steering arm.
