hey im jonny heres my dilemma,
im 20 bout to deploy to afghanistan. mom just gave me the 75 scout thats been sitting where i grew up forever.. i already have it planned as to what im going to do to it. but as for suspension/lift im confused. i want to put 35x12.5x15 under it. but no body sells a 6" lift. so what i was thinking of doing was a 4" sus. lift and a 2" body lift. was also thing of doing some king 16" coilovers. but im new to lifts so any advice would be helpful and appreciated.
Thanks

First off, than you for your service. Second, go to binderplanet.org or read the FAQ in the top of the forum, you'll find PLENTY of info there.
That being said, either go SOA or 4" lift and hack the body, skip the body lift. Tom on here runs 36's IIRC with just the 4" lift and sawzall

Thanks for your service:smokin: But don't be a dumb ass, you are now a Scout owner. Take the time to read the FAQ, read over some killer builds here and then you can build a bad ass Scout. If you drift along with post like your first one, someone like D&C extreme will come along and steal all your money and leave you with a really bad outlook on Scouts.

Yep. You are confused. If you have a leaf springs, then coilover shocks are redundant. Take a gander through the FAQ, and check out BinderPlanet for your newb/stock Scout questions. Unless you plan on doing a multi-link suspension, then you don't need coil-overs.
Stock suspension on a Scout has the Springs Under the Axle (SUA) by moving the axle below the springs (Spring Over Axle) SOA you can get a good amount of lift. You'll have to address the steering and caster angle. Search cut and turn for more info on that.

Thankyou for what your doing. Go over there, save some money, put together a solid build plan. Then when you get home you'll be ready to spend that hard earned money, usefully!
Good Luck!

Thanks for your service, but to answer your question goto Binderplanet and research SOA or spring over axle. I have 2 inch shackles and SOA and clear 35s perfectly.

Coils will generally be smoother, but that's a fuckton more work.

jonnyboi We have cut you a bunch of slack given your service, and young age. Read the faq, look around at some builds and then come on here and start your own build. Asking which springs ride better or leafs with coilover shocks will get you lit up. Keep your head down, and save your pennies while you are in service to your country. Check out "Rkscout", R290s Scout, Buck's Scout, Scout Brokers "Uber Scout" or my SSII. There are a ton or great Scouts here from mild to wild, do your home work so you don't piss away you cash and you can build what ever you want. We will not spoon feed you, you have to learn on your own. Dumb questions just tell us you are not reading or following advice we are giving you. When you look at this you will see I have taken way more time with you than most and hope to see you on a trail somewhere, sometime. But that said now is time to do your home work. Man up read and stop being :homer:

i have to agree with all the guys above. spring over, and if you need a little more longer shackles. as for the knuckle angles if its not to much out and you dont have a way to cut and turn them you can get degree shims. however i never have been a big fan of putting anything between the front axle and leaf spring.
