Couple questions when you have time.

1. How much do the other wheels add, like on the black one? (Re-drilled hemtt wheels I believe)

2. How much for a 1.5 ton trailer with Re-drilled hemtt wheels / tires? ( I understand you will probably have to raise the trailer bed.)

3. How much for 2 spares and the Re-drilled hemtt wheels?

Slightly off topic, but probably next month I am planning on (finally) buying an M1028 from you. What kind of condition are these in on sale? Would it be safe/reliable to drive home in? I live in 29 Palms, not all that far. I plan on using the truck for a DD/towrig for my XJ. The plan is to not have to put too much money into making it drivable once I get it.

Also, how doable are some HMMWV tires mounted on HMMWV wheels? I don't want to lift it if possible and am not averse to cutting. Would stock HMMWV wheels have the right backspacing to run the tires? Do you know what CA usually charges in registration? Is it ridiculous like the late model trucks?

Posted on one of your other threads but looking around brought me to this one. what is the price for the green one in the pics just above(I know that one is sold) and what does it have as far as options go? What size tires are those? That is pretty much how I would want mine to turn out, with the hard top too. Wayyyyyy too cold up here for a soft top.

Apparently they cannot be sold to Canada, according to my searching today so it looks like I'm out of luck. Guess I'll have to search for one up here and mod it myself. That sucks as I'd rather pay someone who has done it lots of times than to start from scratch. If any of you other Canadian guys figure a way to get one here, let me know.

Ok really dumb question here but these trucks have issues going over 65 mph not that you would need to drive this tank that fast but do you think this truck will tow a crawler trailer/ rv setup. I think that it would be the coolest tow vehicle ever!

I've been saving up for a decent 12 valve with low miles but your bobbed dueces are distracting me! What's the wheelbase on them? What's the turning radius if you happen to know? Lacking a actual diameter, what 1 ton 4x4 do they turn like? Short or longbed extracab or crewcab? Just a guess would be fine. Thanks and I look forward to a road trip down there soon.

the beautiful 68 deuce I drove when GI-Joe would hit aroud 50 to 55mph on flat ground in 5th gear and that was "foot on the floor". I assume the newer model 5tons have more power. Of course back then the optional heater was a great thing to have, and power steering would have been the $---.

How do you convert the rear tires/wheels from two on each axel to one super single (1400x20) using the stock wheels?

On the front, is it just a straight tire swap on the rims?

Front is just tires-

Rear is wheel dish out, or- you can flip the hubs and run dish in like the front.

Which way do you prefer doing the rear wheels? Will 46's fit just fine?

What are you asking for 46's these days?

It anbe done. You must remove all data plates and any id that states it was made in the USA or related to the USA,Paint it non military color. No green , brown or black, Try blue, red or orange. Then have you local dmv do a inspection and retitle it as a Jeep truck. Then sell it.

From being a owner of a Deuce, I would say not practical. One thing is that it is very difficult to put non historic plates on the trucks. Insurance is terribly expensive to have it as a daily driver or tow rig. Plus trust me people don't carehow big yo are on the public road , they will still drive like idiots around you. Some come with personal heaters, you can buy them if not. The engine puts out so much heat that you can use a dryer vent hose for a vent.

if your buying deuces and selling them to Canada after you buy one form GL your breaking the law. you agree to not sell one to some one out side of the US when you buy one.

Use spellcheck when you post:flipoff2:

No laws were broken when I bought my M818.:D

There are brokers out there who have exporters licenses and are legally allowed to export EX-military trucks. They routinely sell these units to Canada, Britain, France, Germany, etc. It costs a little extra but IMHO it's worth it. That non-export law came about after 9/11 because the US government didn't want ex-military equipment being used by Al-Qaida types and other terrorists. They really don't have a huge issue if a Canadian buys a truck as long as there's no guns, cannons or missile launchers still attached.:D

edit for clarification: I have talked to Hundy a few times and he's an awesome guy. He sells nice trucks for a decent price and he's definitely the "go to" guy if you want a Deuce or 5-ton that's already bobbed and ready to roll. I'm in no way trying to sway potential buyers away from him, but he does not have the license to export these trucks. I get PMs all the time from other Canadians wanting to buy a truck from Hundy. I would suggest that if anyone is serious about buying one they should do some research and try to find a broker who can do the paperwork to make it happen.
