Does anyone have a schematic for the proper way to wire up a round 6 position plug for a trailer. I let a friend borrow my trailer and it came back with the plug missing and the wires trashed:mad: Help

6 round... 5 around the outside and one in the middle? Or is it the great big 7 prong round pin connector like the old Fords and semi's use?

If it's the smaller one, it goes like this:

TM is for the marker lights
GD should be the largest terminal in the plug, and will be the ground
LT will be left turn signal
RT will be right turn signal

And the last two get hairy... they can go either way.

You should have the S terminal and the center pin left to fill. Depending on how the truck is wired, the S terminal can be the brake wire, or it could be the 12v+ wire. Check the center pin on the truck with a test light to see which one it is, and then put the other wire to the last terminal.

EDIT: forgot to tell you that the color of the wire don't matter... Almost every trailer manufacture uses their own color code. Use a 12v battery to find out what each wire does. Use a small peice of 10 guage wire and hook the negative side of the battery to the frame of the trailer somehow, and touch each wire to the positive side to see which wire does what. One wire should spark real good when you touch it to the battery. That will most likely be ground. Another wire will spark just a little bit, and you can probably hear the brakes kick in. That will be your brake wire.
