I know that the auto trannys came with a fixed yoke rear output on the transfercase. does anyone have any info on swapping this out to eliminate the slip-yoke on the MUA5 w/integrated transfer case? I've heard it can be done but never seen any details or heard from anyone directly.

(hoping Matt chimes in here)

I plan on putting a divorced toyota case behind my current driveline and it would be prefereable to have the center shaft be "flange to flange"

I may not have the terminology 100% correct; but I did this swap a couple of years ago. You cannot just take the back of the fixed-yolk case and put it in place of the back of the slip-yolk case because the engaging slide collar for Hi/Lo has a different number of teeth (42 for slip-yolk, 48 for fixed-yolk). This means both cases must be stripped so everything on the upper gear cluster can be swapped out. The middle idler gear and the lower gear cluster you can keep your original parts. Since you are doing a doubler set-up, you probably don't plan to also add the 3.09:1 aftermarket gears to your Isuzu case... but if you do, make sure you order the kit for a fixed-yolk case.

thanks for the info IndyGuy. I'll probably try to grab a case and dig into both of them to do it over the winter.

I don't plan on adding that kit unless it was half the price it is currently. Pretty much one of the reasons why i'm doubling and also to gain some length on the front driveshaft.
