Ok, I searched so don't flame me too bad.

I have a 77fj40 with a 2.5 in lift of unknown manufacturer and 33in tires. I would like to flip the rear springs and add 35in tires with the sawsall's help. My shackles are nearly vertical at ride height so I am planning on longer ones. First of all I know you'll say go SOA, but I am saving my money for an airspring suspension in the future. What I would like to know is will I need an extended rear driveshaft and will I need shims from flipping the springs.

Thanks

First off, the longer you make your shackles the more vertical it will get. You will want to make them shorter if you need more angle

Are you talking flipping rear, front, or both?

You will need to leangthen the driveshafts either way.

I didnt need shims for my rear end. I did need shims for my front end though. You may need them for the rear however, I am unsure since you have lifted springs.

I know this is WAY off-topic.. but

"there are some things money can't buy, mainly happiness. Only a true faith in God and an obedience to the bible can produce that"

Why is it that people feel the need to cram their religious beliefs on people in all kinds of different places? Can't I not get away from it, even on a 4x4 board?

And as the saying goes "Those who are the most eager to share their religion with you are the least eager for you to share yours"

I hear ya eskimo. I think people just feel really passionate about it and want everybody to think the same way they do. I say live and let live. Maybe I should change my sig to "Join the dark side. There is no God."

Somthing that goes along with his sig too.... I saw sombody elses and I think it said. "Life is like a shit sandwich. The more bread you have the less shit you eat."

I just really like money I guess.:flipoff2:

hey, it's his sig line, it's his choice. If he berated you with info, then get pissy. Otherwise, the sig is a personal choice. It can be politics, religion, sex preference, your favorite boob size, favorite gun, or whatever you want it to be. (this belongs in chitchat, big time - hence the reason I rarely post there)

Regarding your quesion, check the links on my site. I've got a write up on there for improving your shackle angle. Reversing the springs has no effect on your existing angle, may require a shim to properly align the pinion/drveshaft angles, and a longer shackle = more verticle angle.

And yes, you are moving the axle ~3.5" back and your driveshaft will need to be lengthened. You will find it cheaper, most likely, to locate a stock FRONT shaft and have it shortened too....

Thanks for the info guys. Sorry I haven't been around to reply. As far as religion goes, we shouldn't discuss it in this forum. Since you brought it up, some people on this board want to learn about God and have contacted me through pm's. I have never posted on a thread about religion. As far as not wanting to hear about other religions, I don't think one should expound on others personality's with out meeting them first. I happen to go to the University of Washington one of the most anti-Christian, pro-secular/muslim places you will ever find. So, if you want to learn more about my religion feel free to contact me (and you may know less than you think), but this does belong in chit chat.

Dude, chill out...I'm not sure where the cramming is in his post...it almost seems that you are making the assumption that if you are into 4wheeling, you are not into religion...we all have our beliefs and values...he wasn't trying to cram his on you...and since we are capping on peoples sig, I don't particularly like yours...
"305/465/205 twin stick, moorefield centered rear axle, 4-wheel vented discs"...LOL...it's better than mine...WHY IS IT BETTER THAN MINE?....cause my wife won't let me spend any money on my Cruiser...the TIMB factor at work....on your questions missingmytoy...ditto what woody said...

OK, ok.. I'm chilled..

If you flip the springs, you will need a longer D/S..

Mine was mod'd at the same time the Chevy t-case went in, so I don't know exactly how long your shaft will need to be.

Woody's site has ALL the info you'll need, and then some!

Do you have to move the upper shock mounts to the rear of the crossmember?

Hrmmm, mine are on the rear... and appear that they would bind if they were on the front of the x-member...
