: CTM U joint's, who runs them in a daily driver/wheeler??

So i have a 91 Cherokee that is pretty well set up for rock crawling, and a daily driver, does 70 MPH down the freeway with 2 fingers on the steering wheel!

But being a tow truck driver, the Cherokee sits 90% of the time and doesnt see to much daily driver use, but lets just say for the time being things are going to change, and it wil be my daily driver to get me too and from work, a round trip of 20 to 25 miles.

The front end is a Dana 44 H.P. with Dutchman inner axles and CTM U Joint's, the front end does have hubbs on it to lock & unlock the front end, but being in the snow country, i will be having the hubbs locked in alot more than when i just lock in the hubbs to go crawling, and then unlock the hubbs when im done running the trail!!!

So my question is, has anybody ran these u joints in a daily driver with any issues?? i know just like anyhing else they need to be greased, but i have hurd the CTM's burn thru grease alot faster being they have no needle bearings, and dont hold the grease in quit as well as a normal u joint does with needle bearings.

So should i remove the CTM.s for the winter time, and install a normal set of U Joints, or just run th CTM's, i dont mind greasing stuff, but in the middle of winter and the front end being covered in snow and road grime, i really dont want to have to grease them every 2 to 4 weeks just so they dont wear out!!!

thanks for any info:)

From what I've heard, most people are greasing them after every day or two of wheeling to keep the squeak down, let alone weeks of higher speed DD use. I'd say if you're going to have the front end spinning a lot, don't use the CTM's.

Take that with a grain of salt, I've never persoanlly run them

run them in a 60 with flanges for 2yrs of dd use greased them every oil change and never had a problem with them. the only time they see wear is when you turn and driving down the street its mainly straight driving so they don't see as much wear as you would think.

My recomendation is to call Jack himself...if he says RUN EM, there's your peace of mind as HE WILL NOT STEER YOU WRONG.

This absolutly does not belong in this forum.

What makes questioning a u-joint's driving reputation a hardcore cherokee subject??? Absofucklutly nothing.

So i talked to Jack from CTM this morning, and he said the CTM's are good to go for a daily driver. Very nice guy bye the way :)

The rumors of the CTM's was started because some other company's kick of you joints couldn't stand up to the test, so basiclay you get what you pay for! :D

The warranty can't be beat either.
I broke a CTM last month and had a replacement in my hands a week later. Great customer service from Jack and crew at CTM Racing.
