Howdy, welcome to the board.

So, who are you in real life? Gotta be cool with that moniker. Which SSII is yours?

Hooper,

Currently my SSII is not posted on any website. I will attempt to post a picture ASAP. My SSII originated as a 73 Scout.

The curtain 1 of 2

1. Scout Owner – what more to life.

2. I just moved into Colorado from Oklahoma. I am assisting in opening a new company that works with the DEA/DOJ.

Got it. Thanks. I try to keep track of all the SSII's and your moniker was new, so I thought I would get some clarification.

Thanks

Now, back to your regularly scheduled tech.

OK, since your really a newbie, the front springs on my truck are Rancho 44044's. Search, learn it, love it, live it. It will be your friend around here and help you avoid the D.A.N. posts and lovely pictures everyone has :D

Hi, Brian!

Pat - I have a pic of his "SSII".. somewhere I even have pics of his non-SSII, tho' not scanned (apparently).., wounded on Holy Cross, getting a new custom center pin fab'd up. :-)

(Mind you, this was the same trip I blew my engine, ripped both sides of the exhaust off, destroyed the draglink, and other untold carnage..)

Here's the "SSII" in Moab right after RMIHR - outside Poplar Place off Main Street:

And a few days earlier at RMIHR (from the RMIHR website)

http://www.rmihr.org/imgGallery/RMIHR02/83_G.jpg

..and he thinks his Scout's not on any websites... :D

Nice lookin' SSII. Whose yellow 80/800 is that? I've seen pics of that one before... It's a beautiful rig!

I believe that one is George Womack's.

Has a lot of nice things on it, like A/C. Powered by a 196 if recollect.

Is it a function of the SSII style, or what? Tuckers rig looks even more porpoised than mine (nose and tail low, high in the middle)

http://www.nwbinders.net/Trails/FearMeChallenge/ScoutsLinedUp.jpg

Odd that Rustys does not seem as porpoised...

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~marka/PhotoAlbums/misc/P0000031_001.sized.jpg

I know my rockers are straight, and body lift is squared away, my tub sits on the frame, not on the ears of the rear crossmember, so I don't have bent ear syndrome. I think it is an optical illusion augmented by the inserts...

Nice Scout II. Basket winch up front?

Do the spotlights give you blind spot problems?

What is the gold tank on top of your bumper? Air? NO2? :D

Get an SSII grill for it and you will really be styling!!!

George Womack's.

Would you believe that it was George and Brian's first time in Moab.. the one year I didn't bring anything to play with, and in years past I couldn't get anyone to go to Moab with me after RMIHR, so I always had to wheel alone...

Saw their rigs as we drove through town, but didn't see them.. until later when we were enjoying an ice-cream cone and watched Brian and his wife and George walk by. :)

The next day we saw Brian n' George and Bill Thebert at the Super 8!

Mini-RMIHR in Moab..

I hope next time you all plan a Moab trip you post it here, I'll be sure to make it down.

:D Will do.

For the last few years I've stopped in Moab after leaving RMIHR (used to be Fairplay, now Salida).

This year I only had my 2wd tow-rig, and my racer with me, so we just cruised Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point, etc.

The previous two years I had my trail rig with me and we played a bit.

Might be able to talk Michelle into wheelin' her 800 in Moab this summer.. we'll see. I'm going to try to tow two rigs to RMIHR.. so my trail rig will probably stay home.

Could wheel the crewcab though.. it'll be 4x4 by then. :D

Gotta get another tow-rig up n' running so she can pull her own toys n' we can spend twice as much on fuel. :D

RMIHR/NWBRU fuel runs me about $700 every year. :-)

Hooper,

The little gold tank is an aluminum tranny cooler. I like auto's and I know that heat is the worst thing in the world for them. The cooler also increased the fluid capacity by two quarts. My tranny doesn't see 150 degree when I am of wheeling. :D

I also have mini version in the grill for the power steering.

The basket winch was a last minute purchase. I need to store the dang thing in the back because it decreases the approach angle up front. However, it can come in handy.

My scout is square and straight. All body mounts are good. I believe the insert's cause optical illusion.

The spot lights work ok and really don't cause a blind spot. However, I don't recommend installing a pair in that location.

I have a front insert that I could install on the front of the truck. The truck is sprayed with bed liner and it makes it a little difficult to remove the panels. I thing the grill will be a winter project for next years show.

I plan to build a new one for next year. I haven't deiced what yet! Nevertheless, you guys and the scout gods will like it.

Tucker
FYI on the truck: SUA upfront with 4 in (D-44), SOA in the rear with 4 in., (D-44), 345 fool injected, auto, 4:1 Tera Low, 4.09's, 33's for now, thinking bigger could be better, locked up front and rear

Hey tsm1mt, I was standing right there with George, Brian and his wife when you were housing that ice cream, and at the Super-8 with Bill. Did I blend in that well? :)

Georges 800 has a 196,T18 D20 and all kinds of bells and whistles. Enough tools to rebuild an engine in the field and battery welding. If it wasn't for the welding setup my 80 would still be on Poison Spider.

George and I have gone the last two years and it was Tuckers first. We go either before or after the RMIHR depending on schedules.
Harkinoff---we will call you for next year. Are you coming to the RMIHR next year?

REF

No, I remembered someone else.. but rather than "George, Brian and Jennifer Tucker" and then say "and some other guy".. I stuck with the folks I remembered names for. ;-)

At least now I can place an "REF" in that list. ;) I know I was told your name at the time, but that's escaped me a long time now. ;)

Here's that pic from Holy Cross.. George and Brian under Brian's Scout.
