Spacecwboy 12-19-2010, 08:39 PM longfields get my vote
Mustard Dog 12-19-2010, 08:45 PM If it wasn't for Bobby Long and Marlin we'd all be driving Jeeps.

89'toyvolet 12-19-2010, 11:21 PM X5 for Bobby's. If you have a problem you call and he or Tina answer. They'll fix you up in a heartbeat. Try that in China!
MT4Runner 12-20-2010, 07:07 AM Durty 30's (bell) break at ~550ft-lbs. Good enough for 37's-38's.
Longs (shaft) break at 650 ft-lbs. Good enough for 40's.
Your FToy is light enough to run 40's. Get the Longs and never worry about another upgrade, ever.
...and x6: Bobby and Tina are awesome people who have done a ton for the Toyota-wheeler. Continue to invest in their products, and they'll continue to invest in ways to make their products better--and bring great new products to the market.

Napolian 12-21-2010, 08:08 AM I've been running longs for years, great product, great service. I have not yet run the dirty thirtys, but I have lots of friends that do. They all run them with 39" red lable krawlers, no problems. I think either place you go you will get a awesome product and get great service. Neither company has ever let me down and trail gear has always stood behind there products. The people that gripe about China are stupid we all drive trucks from Japan.
the-t-man 12-21-2010, 01:00 PM I have been running my dirtys for about 1.5 years no problems, sticky tires and allot of extra weight in the front with water. before that i was using longs for about the same amount of time same combo in the rig took them out cause they were making so much noise. they were not broken yet but i could tell something was messed up wth them.
there was no warranty with them unless they were (broken) so onto the shelf they went and decided to try the dirtys out.have seen lots of longs blow up and other birfs and didnt want to screw up a bunch of other parts, im super happy with the dirty30's..

nope could send them in for them to rebuild them for a fee, but if they were not broken to the eye then no. one day i will rebuild them myself and flog them off. both are good products but i know tg will warranty the dirtys if they were doing the same symptoms as my longs..

i have had 4 sets of chromo longfields since his first run of 27 spliners. all of them were rebuilt at different times after i ran them and it never was a problem or charge to call ask them to be rebuilt. which is what i would do before every KOH or once a year before WEROCK comps started.

not starting a pissing match, that is what has been with us with tg warranty, and that is how things have been with us tying to get it done under warranty through longfield. maybe its different for other people through both companys..but hey its the internet everyone is right :)
skonkerd 12-23-2010, 06:31 PM I think i know the noise you are refering to, and if im right the star inside the bell has a hair line crack thats hard to see. i would still by them in the shape there in if you offerd a fare price.

I did the exact same thing the longs were clicking and poping like crazy when i sold my axles and had 1 broken. I ended up buying dirty 30s and broke 3 of those before I figured out you cant over turn them now there rock solid tho and quiet.

Ain't that the truth!
wheelerpeeler 12-26-2010, 09:02 AM longField's for me I beat the pis out of them.
scrappy1982 12-26-2010, 08:47 PM ran longs for 6 years, but tha next set will be dirty 30s jus for warranty reasons:(
Brent Harp 12-27-2010, 06:35 AM Im running a custom set of longfield inners that are 5 inches over stock each. wondering if that will allow more twist before breaking or vice versa. Ive been througha few rebuilds with longfield before. Usually its $40 a piece, its always another parts fault. Ive had several trunion bearings take them out. stock and marlin upgrade. trail gear trunion bearing eliminator kit is product of the century!!!
Monster Yota 12-27-2010, 11:10 AM Longs no questions asked,,, you would have to pay me to run the anything with the name dirty... :flipoff2:
ec2469 12-27-2010, 10:18 PM i have had dirty30s in my 80 with 42s for a year now... about 5 hard trips and 15 light ones. that being said im a smart driver, that doesnt mean i dont get the job done tho.
if ya think i dont wheel ill show ya some pictures HAHA
ftoys are lighter so i dont think you will have a problem with either set of birfields (if they break there will be a good story with it)
just my input never had longs.
slobuild57 12-28-2010, 05:06 PM Everyone has a really cool Longfield story so I'll share mine. I broke an inner axle no biggie, sent it in and got it back pretty fast. When I bought my Longs TG was selling them at the time and since I needed other parts from them thats what I did. I wasn't aware of the fact that I needed to buy cromo hub gears or drive flange. Well as you can guess I shattered a hub gear and stripped the splines on the birf(not bad but not too good either). I tore into it on a sunday, found the issue and just for shits and giggles called to basicly leave a message for someone to call me on tuesday. To my surprise Tara awnsered the phone. I explained my problem and that I would call back and she told me that Bobby was driving back from a wheeling trip and gave me his cell number for me to call. She expained that he would like the company. Well I called and Bobby awnsers the phone and takes the time to help me. I didn't get the awnser I was wanting but didn't expect to but the simple fact the guy was more than helpful on a sunday made me a life long customer. Run Longfields, run them hard and with confidence.

For being the person you are I will refrain from the obvious your an idiot comment for that statment.....
That being said I love that Bobby is the innovator and originator of so many wonderfully products that I personally use and enjoy. I see no reason to bash the competition because it proves nothing. I love how it seems mostly on this board that people tell the new guys to run this product or your house will explode and TG's CEO will come rape your sisters child.......
To the OP, do your own research on ALL the available products and then buy the best product you can afford. If you feel that the longs are Superior to the Dirty's and you can afford them, go buy them.. This thread will do nothing more than spiral into a pissing contest.
pages007 12-29-2010, 12:34 PM China = Japan is like saying Mexico = USA
you have obviously never been to California or Arizona....
Chris Geiger 12-29-2010, 01:31 PM The people that gripe about China are stupid we all drive trucks from Japan.
China and Japan are two totally different places with entirely different ideas as to what quality is. When I receive a product from Japan, I can assume it will work as intended and be reliable. I have not had the same experience with items made in China.

Hi Chris it's been a while, hope things are well. I hear what you are saying, my comment was refering to the guys that say we should only buy american made. TG has shown me that they do make a quality product no matter where it comes from. Buy what you want, that's what I do.
Mustard Dog 12-29-2010, 03:04 PM For being the person you are I will refrain from the obvious your an idiot comment for that statment.....
Call me whatever you want fella, no skin off my ass.
I personally feel that my dough goes to the companies that have invested the time and money to develop a new idea/product of superior quality, not the guys that ride in on their coattails.
If that makes me an idiot in your eyes so be it.
curtis f 12-29-2010, 03:23 PM Been beating my dirty 30's for a while now with 38x14.5 sx's at 3 psi and they have not complained once .I live in bc where it is often wet and slippery and lots of clutch drops and bounces and landing on the axles full throttle. Ive seen 2 sets of longs break in the time ive had 30's (both on 40" iroks). Both are great products I dont think you can loose . Depends alot on the driver and rig ... not just the product .
Hvy_Chevy 12-29-2010, 03:47 PM I figured out you cant over turn them now there rock solid tho and quiet.
drity30s don't turn as sharp as a Yota axle will? Longfields can turn sharper than the housing can
possume22 01-04-2011, 06:02 PM mine turn just as sharp a my factory axels they turn lock to lock what good is it for the axels to turn tighter than your axels can turn
Hvy_Chevy 01-08-2011, 11:46 AM you know for sure that you're not over-turning the axle.
moveaside 01-11-2011, 04:02 PM I run longs currently but lets look at this from a advertising slogan brand recognition stand point
These are shafts since we are men we hear the word shaft we think...our penis which the world seems to spin around on.
So I guess the question is do you want a long shaft or a dirty one???:flipoff2:
