Kills me to say it, but only Rusty's seems to have what you're looking for.

Have you tried J&W? Capitol Jeepers Supply? Rancho Jeep Dismantlers? If I stopped to actually think about this, I could come up with a dozen other places here in Sac that will have what you want, in stock. Try cracking open the phone book and calling a couple places:rolleyes: :flipoff2:

Jeff at Rancho Jeep could hook you up with a nice used setup

What is the link to this YJ Tie rod you found? I'm looking for a thicker tie rod then stock and can't seem to find anything. If you can send me the Rusty's link to the tie rod I would like to see it. I just took a look at his site and did not see a YJ Tie rod. If anyone knows of a company selling one let me know.

might give Russ a call at www.baertrax.com (Dallas, Tx). Seem to recall he was building beefed up steering linkages for stock TJ and YJ axles.

I sent them an e-mail... only see TJ tie rods on there site.

Does anyone have a Tie rod for YJ's that they have made that I can take a look at?

Call Scott@Rockstomper, he's also a member of this board, I think that this is his name here. He'll set ya up w/ a YJ rod.

He specializes in TJ's 'cuz he wheels one. He does custom stuff for any Jeep (any custom setup, too). Call or email him.

For your full width 44, or a stock width 30? Or...

Built mine with parts from Tony K on here. He even had a pitman arm to bolt on for dirt cheap that was reamed already for the chevy tre's. Then later I bought a reamer from him...

I received an e-mail back from Russ:

Nothing usable, sorry.
Russ.

And Rockstomper's site even says I quote:
"We do not have the ability to make the curved TJ/XJ draglink or the YJ tierod assembly"

It's the one he's selling for XJ's. I've run one on my YJ for a couple of years now.
Here's the link (http://rustysoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=rustys&Product_Code=SC-250&Category_Code=ste)

go with an inverted T so that you'll have less problems down the road. That inverted Y is just plain hoakey to me.

www.rockstomper.com
www.shakerbuilt.com
www.partsmikeparts.com

blah blah blah, they all sell tie rod and drag link parts and you can even keep these little ones if you want to.

I know that this is not the Ideal setup but hey, i gota do the best with the money I got.

Here is a pic of my curent setup. Drag link (http://groups.msn.com/BrocksProjects/jeep.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=29)

I used 1.25" DOM tubing and threaded it for My stock ends. Got about 50 bucks into it.

I see no reason why you can't do something similar to the Tie rod.

why run the tj setup its weak and prone to bend in regular conditions not 35/36 and soa

my guess would be that it was the only way he could clear the leafs with the drag link w/o going to a hi steer setup. And he didn't want to spend the money to do hi steer on that d30. In stock config, the draglink will hit the pass leaf when you go soa. you have to get over that leaf either by a hi steer arm, or that inverted Y. I guess you might be able to do a crossover setup or something, but I dont' know what the angle limitations would leave you with soa on stock width.

Not that i have oodels of lift, but with the amount of lift that i run it left the draglink at such a steep angle with the tierod that steering was no longer a push and pull task, because of the steep angle the draglink was trying to force the tierod into the ground which caused it to rotate though the whole cycle of the balljoints(over 90 degreees of rotation) untill tension or compression could be restored. That much slack made it handle like POO on the trail and road.
To address your question of stength:confused: Have you looked at TJ & YJ linkage side by side, the TJ draglink is twice the size. I have thrown 10 times more at this setup than my original YJ setup with no faiure, the setup was free and took 30 min. and the original planes were to replace the thin stock tierod with a cut down piece from a rustys setup(also sitting around) when the setup failed, but it has yet to do so.

Edit: The draglink was also ocasionaly tapping on the leaves like previously mentioned(not even enough to take the paint off):flipoff2: .

I want to see how the tie rod and drag link sit in relation (distance) from the leafs

about half an inch, there are no signs of rubbing on either the spring or draglink
