Let me tell you the story. I have an 86 Zuk. Full width 44 axles, 3-link on coils in the front, 1 1/4" high steer, with hydraulic steering, 5 89's, detroits both ends. Y-J springs in the rear, teraflexes, 4 to 1 transfer case, at the moment I have a 1300 with header and intake approximately 80 horse. I have 37 MTR Goodyears for the rocks wanting to go to the 40's, 36x16.5 dickcpecs radials for snow. I've got full tube front clip with exo-skeleton, doors and top still fit. Hand throttle. 8000 lb. Warn winch. The reason why I'm looking at going to the 2300 is I'll get 230 horse. I think the 4.3 is too heavy. I really miss being able to get on top of 5 feet plus snow pack and haul ass.:flipoff2:

whould you be hauling ass in a tubo? or dus a tubo make your ass haul?

Just curious. If the t-case can live behind a 4.3, the 2.3 turbo should be easy. You still won't have the low end torque of a engine twice as big, and I am betting that while you make more horsepower, it is coming at a higher rpm, with less torque. Static torque load ( or shock loads, but the 2.3 mass should be lower too)I have read of Icelanders liking their 175 horse Volvo turbo for lightweight power, and they are the deep snow pioneers. Please do post some pics, especially of the snow running. There is a secret, hidden group of us among the rocks:D.
