I took my AC out and wanted a space for circulation between radiator and cooler. I didnt like the idea of sandwiching onto the surface of the Radiator.

yeah without the ac it is easy :) I kept mine though, and when you have to install the tranny cooler, s/c water cooler and s/c oil cooler all behind the factory grille you have to compromise!

That's one sweet looking trans cooler nice find!
Anyone have a link to a write up on how to install a trans cooler for an auto tranny that doesn't have one stock?

All the auto Fj have one stock in the radiator drivers side, and some of us have installed aftermarket ones for increased cooling. Its pretty simple, theres a few write ups on the blue room.
I installed mine inline with the factory cooler. I heated the truck up and found the hotter hose which would be the 'in' hose to the factory cooler i cant remember now i think it was the top one) and disconnected it from the radiator. I extended this hose and connected it to the aftermarket cooler. Then ran the return line from the aftermarket cooler to the original hose barb on the radiator. This way my fluid goes through the aftermarket cooler first then the stock one before returning to the trans. It adds approx 1 qt of fluid to the system as well.

running a little hot driving fast in the desert for long periods of time but not too hot about 160 and that is only for short durations but I am going to be installing a super charger and am anticipating an increase with the higher speeds. I have not maxed it out since installing the cooler but I think I will be around 130.
