: go fast time
skonkerd 01-01-2011, 08:16 AM Got the rest of the parts for the turbo over the holidays, thanks John! Also picked up a cheep set of coilovers. Now for the big debate, I feel that linking the front with the coilovers and leaving the leafs in the rear will help with the ruts stumps, general loose debri on the course. I can only have two supporting shocks according to class rules. So lets hear some thoughts on this. articulation is not my primary concern. From what i have seen on desert prerunners, built on a budget, most are switching to a spring under axle set up. However im afraid this will hurt on ground clearance.
Supra 4x4 01-01-2011, 09:41 PM I thought you had to keep "stock style" suspension? If it came with leaves you have to run leaves? Just checking before you start cutting. Good luck with the turbo set up. I had a stock 87 4Runner Turbo, pretty cool and faster than you might think but what a dog off idel waiting for the boost to build.
skonkerd 01-02-2011, 07:21 AM in a class you have to keep the stock style suspention. in b class you can have no more than two vehicle suporting shocks.
what are you talking about? what class? what course?
skonkerd 01-02-2011, 12:23 PM ECORS, its an endurance series, on the east coast. 2mile course, rocks ruts creeks jumps tight wooded trails, a little of it all i guess. We raced Harlen, and a few private parkes this past year. Any advise for the link set up?
mtbrjon 01-02-2011, 09:09 PM Sell the coilovers, keep the leaves, get bypasses, air bumps, and "quicken up" steering. Then you can easily be WERock/Ftoy legal. Almost forgot...take driving lessons :D:laughing::D

Don't let him talk about you like that!
skonkerd 01-03-2011, 12:55 PM well a new driver might be in the works actually. Im trying to set up the three link so that i can unbolt everything, and go back to leafs if i want. Not to run we rock, but if i blow out a coilover on pre run the day before the race, i will have what i need on the race trailer to switch back. As far as talkin smack, i still havent seen either one of you guys at a race yet, you and tator didnt even look me up when you came to the harlen race. The only one that has bothered to show up was z man. come on guys i need to see more yotas at these things.

I waved at you:p You looked very busy!
skonkerd 01-03-2011, 04:08 PM I was wondering who that one person was, i thought you were trying to hitch a ride.
bigiron427 01-03-2011, 04:35 PM i'm lookin at runnin maybe a few races this year, im runnin leafs and bilsteins. what is the furtherest south that a race is going to be this year???
MT4Runner 01-03-2011, 07:08 PM Interesting. In the one race I ran this fall, they had similar classes--stock (stock suspension), Mod (limit of bypasses on 2 corners), and pro (unlimited suspension)...and KOH. Got beat easily by Jason Paule in the KOH class, and Al Hogan would have killed me in Pro.
Compare how competitive you'll be if you move up a class.
You'll definitly be able to ride faster, but so will everyone else.
Heck, I've thought (some) about a bolt-on go-fast IFS front suspension with coilovers!!
dragr1 01-03-2011, 08:06 PM A little touch of nitrous will help it spool faster :D
skonkerd 01-04-2011, 07:25 AM we are supposed to be running at least one race in Alabama, but im not exactly sure witch park. As far as moving up a class, I will be staying in the same class i ran last year. I am runnIng against cherokees now. I know they arent much of a threat crawling , but with the front factory coils, and the 4.0 that some guys are already starting to stroke to 300hp, its getting hard to keep up. im hoping the turbo will be enough, but still maintain reliability.
scrappy1982 01-05-2011, 07:56 PM i will be competing in these races this year for sure, but dont know what class i will be in, single seat yota buggy leaves in the front, 4 link rear, about 70% stock frame, propane and turbo setup.
hopefully iam in wades class:D
skonkerd 01-05-2011, 10:32 PM Sounds like you will be in my class. Hope john doesn't get pissed when I smoke his old rig
mtbrjon 01-06-2011, 03:25 AM If your new engine runs as strong as Adam's that will be a good race to watch !!
skonkerd 01-06-2011, 11:57 AM Its not about the engine its about the driver.......... now i just have to find a better driver, where the heck did i put Robbies number?
scrappy1982 01-07-2011, 08:49 AM not really the same motor, new turbo pistons, head work, basically all turbo engine parts to go with it (13 psi boost now), but off my rig on to urs wade u will be very happy with the turbo setup best yota improvement other than longs my opinion:D
skonkerd 01-09-2011, 01:36 PM i thought i would run the same tired motor i have always ran, even with the leaking head gasket, then mabey switch to the new motor. However after hearing your build up i might need to revaluate things.
