I have broke a rear at the axle at both axle side and inner CV joint toasted all the yokes and u-joints and have broke the front in the splines twisted the splines due to not extending it with 8"s of lift and axle moved forward 2-3 inches.

Ditto GPN Family. I twisted the splines on one of mine.

Do note that XJ's came with about 4 different versions of shafts ranging from a pretty nice CV to a dinky little toothpick of a shaft.

Was running 33x15.5" SX's on a '99 XJ and broke the spider gears while climbing a rock ledge... Couldn't believe how easy they broke... Guess I should have ran a locker in the front

Decided to fix it the right way and got a whole new Jeep as a project and bigger axles :D

I run a XJ 1310 CV front shaft in the rear of my full width 4250 lb YJ on 40's. Only had one shaft failure and that was 100% driver error. I twisted the splines of when I over extended the shaft. Nice bang! I laughed and drove home in front wheel drive.
