I just got some TR bead locks.... question is, how do you put the tire on????? Do you have to get a shop to put on half way then I can bolt the rest? Please help. I have read many reviews on these but never how to instal them.

I've had good luck with these 2 methods:

1) Drop tire from waist height onto rim sitting on the ground. This should get the tire "half way on"

2) Place unmounted tire on top of rim. Then place your hi-lift on top of the tire and jack against the truck. The base of the hi-lift will get the tire "half way on" too

Just my experience.....

First off, you must have the outer bead lock unbolted from the wheel.

Lay the wheel on the ground with teh outside of the wheel facing up.

Lube the inner lip of your wheel and it will slip right down on the wheel.

Lay the outer bead of the tire on the side of the wheel without a safety bead and then bolt your outer ring on the wheel to hold the tire in place.

One trick I use to seat the bead is to put the tire/wheel on a 5 gallon bucket and the weight of the tire helps start the seal on the inner bead.

Good luck, just got a set myself....

BINGO!!!!!

Although I just used a spare rim that I had laying around.

Use a mix of dishwasher soap and water (like 1/3 soap) to lube things and go to town!!!

Another thing you might want to do is lube the outer bead and use some large fender washers through the beadlock holes to set the outer bead in place. Sometimes it is a B@#%h to get that bead to set properly. Just setting it on and clamping the beadlock in place usually just means a crushed swamper bead..

guys I tried these things! I and a friend of mine pushed down but could not get the back side bead to go down over the the wheel. Yes I have checked that I have the right size and the flange is not bolted on it. We can get about little over half the tire on just can not push the rest of it on. using a high lift I thought might cut into the tire.....any other ideas....and thank you for the ideas so far!:)

About the best idea I can give ya is to take em to a tire shop! I can't beleive how many people mount their own tires when its such a pain in the ass! It only costs $10-20 a wheel to have them mounted..... I've mounted a few tires in the garage in the past, and I must say that it's not worth the trouble!

The Wise One has spoken!

Buford, I use a monster screwdriver and pry it over, you are not going to hurt that monster tire.....

I was thinking a pair of pry bars would work...

Or, a pair of tire spoons are only less than $10.. it's really quite easy.

I second Jeff's recommendation. The last set I had mounted, the tire droids were so impressed with the wheels and tires that they set both beads for free.:p

I tried that at my discount tire in Vegas.
The tire guy just looked at the rims with a very confused look on his face...

If youget one side on the rim you can usually "push" that side closer to the rim. It really should not be that hard. I was rather easy with my TR locks and some 38.5" swampers..

Worst case senerio, have them de-mount old tires and mount the tires on the new bead locks just on the inner bead, then you go home and bolt on the rings...

i mounted all my tires on my home made beadlocks and didn't spend more than 5 minutes a tire on the worse one. i spent way more time tightning down the 36 bolts. mike
