What are the pro's/con's of having the welded on d-rings versus the schackles on a front bumper? Does it make a difference, or just use a shackle to connect the strap to the d-rings, and be done with it? Yeah, kind of newbie :flipoff2: but I don't usually see the welded on d-rings much, so i don't know crap about 'em. Thanks

Welded on d-rings clank, and they can't be used to hook straps to themselves (if that makes any sense) the way shackles can. Either use shackles, or my favorite, the good old fashioned tow hook. It's a classic for a reason. They're not "cool" like shackle tabs on the bumper, but screwing that pin in and out thirty time per ride (towing and being the towee on a muddy trail) gets really old...

Can't I also use a shackle to connect the strap to the d-rings? If not, I guess I'll keep my tow hooks on too. Might leave 'em on anyways, just wondering if that's how you're supposed to use a strap with the d-rings.

I had D-rings on my jeep, I never heard them clanging around. But then again I had fender well headers with turn outs. I didn't hear anything. Every now and then you will hear them, fixed with a piece of rubber inner-tube inside the u shaped piece.
