I'm sure they would be pretty popular for those of us with d60's trying to get rid of death wobble

We have them in the works. Keep your eyes open. We are working on new products all the time. We are just waiting on a few hours of downtime on one of our machines to run them. We are running at full capacity now and I just try and throw these new products in when I can. But I usually run 50-100 or so of them so we dont run out!! I will post here first thing when they are ready!!! Thanks

You shouldnt need anything to install. Unless you wanted to replace or upgrade your your studs/bolts. And I personally havent run them with H2 Wheels so I cant be for sure on that.

I designed them to be 7.5" from center to center. But we might be able to stretch the tie rod hole out to 7.75" or so. It has a 1" radius on that end so you could scoot the hole out a little. if you needed it.

Easiest thing to do is to get a thinner "fender" style washer. If that dosent work I will take them back and send you a new set with the milled recess to take care of the problem. I cant quite figure out why some guys are having this problem and some are not? Anyways. Just let me know what you want to do.

was wondering if you could do a passenger side arm with the taper on the bottom side (for a heim mounted under the arm for clearance) with a fine thread 5/8" hole set in line with the outer king pin bolts (not in line with the kingpin like it appears the arms are) 5" from the kingpin pivot for proper akerman angle and to match my pitman arm. let me know if you need a drawing of what I'm talking about. I'd also be looking for a springless cap for the driver side. shipped to 01128

Could do it all but the bolts lined up with the outside kingpin bolts. The arms are designed with the linkage hole to be in the center. If that works I will give you a quote. Thansk

Ok, sorry if I'm just confused. A couple people have asked about Ackermann Geometry. For example, Wicked Wrangler asked:

How much for 79 ford Dana 60 arms tre and Ackerman sent to 05680

With the response from 4WheelSupply being:

Sorry! Missed your post. 133.95$ shipped. 2-3 day turnaround.

This makes it sound like you CAN do "Ackermann" style arms. But when asked if you can put the link ends in line with the outer kingpin bolts by mattamd_xp:

hole set in line with the outer king pin bolts (not in line with the kingpin like it appears the arms are) 5" from the kingpin pivot for proper akerman angle

The response by 4WheelSupply was:

Could do it all but the bolts lined up with the outside kingpin bolts. The arms are designed with the linkage hole to be in the center.

This sounds like you CANT do "Ackermann" style arms...

Again, forgive me if I am just confused, but to my knowledge the basic concept of Ackermann steering requires that if the tie rod is in front of the steering axle, it must be slightly longer than the distance between the kingpins, and if the tie rod is behind the steering axle, it must be slightly shorter than the distance between the kingpins.(Wikipedia Ackermann (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ackermann_steering_geometry))

Obviously that is an oversimplified explanation of Ackermann Geometry but my point is this; The arms pictured in the first post appear to show the tre holes being in line with the kingpin. This would make the tie rod parallel with the kingpins and therefor NOT be Ackermann Geometry. Do you offer an additional version that is not pictured that DOES offer Ackermann Geometry with the holes for the Tie Rod being more in line with the outer kingpin bolts?

As far as I've found, there are only three types of Ackermann steering for Dana 60's; Factory (the cast mounts on the outer knuckles), Artec Industries High Steer Arms (including the double sheer tie rod kit they're $365ish bucks), and NorthWest Fabworks High Steer Arms ($298 per set).

There are several threads here on Pirate and elsewhere arguing Ackermann vs non-Ackermann blah, blah, blah. Just my opinion here, but at $95 plus drilling for TRE and shipping who really cares if they're Ackermann or not, 4WheelSupply's arms appear to be a great deal!

mattamd_xp
08-27-2011, 12:48 PM
They are definitely not setup to include ackermann angle on these arms. I think people are confusing the taper milled into the arm to compensate for the taper of the factory knuckles.

Sorry, 133.95 is for a pair. So you are correct with your price. Thanks

Is it really $25 extra for the threaded hole? Or is that the price for 2 arms rather than 1 arm and 1 cap?
the total would seem to be $108.95 from the price list in your first post:

$50 each or $95 for a pair =$50 for single passenger side arm arm

$8.95 Shipping for single or pair!! =$8.95 shipping

Just added a cap to our list of products. $40 each or $75 a pair. Or mix and match with an arm. =$40 for the driver side cap

Option 2 is milling the 10* angle into the arms. (pic coming soon) will be $10 for single or $15 for the pair. Which includes your choice of linkage hole i.e. heim or tre. =$10 for the 10* angle milled on the underside of the passenger side arm and the hole for the bolt ($25 more for 5/8" fine threaded over straight hole???)

total I got was 50+8.95+40+10=$108.95 Let me know which price is the correct one :homer:

They seem like they are drilled wrong the tie rod holes are drilled out at the ends and the drag link hole is on the pumpkin side so when you turn it try's to cross. Acouple of my buddy's are running high arms and there drag hole is drill out on the end and tie rods are drilled back alittle on the pumpkin side am I missing something?I have this under a 95 yj with 4" springs and a drop pitman arm.

Curious... Is youre pitman arm the same center to center of holes as your crossover arms hole to center of king pin? It appears that they are not and I had the understanding that that would cause you not to have full turning radius and thats what Im trying to avoid. Also what did you use to taper the holes? Thanks

Hey.

Yeah my pitman arm is too short. it sucks. I used a cherokee arm that is 6 or so center to center, when i need 7in. The superlift 1104 is the arm you want

It works but not well.

I used a countersink bit to do the taper for the studs. like one of these

Thanks, I almost had all my steering set up with high steer and crossover untill I realized the Skyjacker 78-79 Bronco pitman arm I bought was causing it not to fully turn. After searching high and low for a longer pitman arm I decided today(and I hope I didnt mess up here) to take the arms back off, fill the holes with weld and redrill the holes at 4.5 for the tie rod and 6.5 for the drag link. I havent reinstalled them yet but I hope everything is going to work now.
I seen those countersink bits at Rural King the other day and thought about useing one but wasnt sure if the angle of the taper had to be exact. If it worked for you then that what Im going to use too then. Did you use the 3/4 like the picture or was that just an example? The 3/4 one may be closer to the right taper is what I was thinking. Thanks for your time !

I have a similar problem. The holes for the TRE are machined perpendicular to the angled surface as they should be. The issue is that the opposite side is not machined parallel to the top face, so the nut doesn't have the correct face to seat against. If the bottom side was machined along with the top, the arm would be too thin for the TRE stud.

The springless design allows you to replace the tin cap and spring that puts preload on the top kingpin bushing with a adjustable set screw and washer to allow you to adjust the kingpin bushing preload to your desired setting.

The "small" "cosmetic" mark you PMed me about is a fucking 3/8" wide 1/4" deep gouge from the broken drill bit.

Then to top it all off you forgot to tap the hole for the grease fittings.

So now I am out $125, and have 2 piles of scrap metal, or I have to waste my time welding in that gouge so the heim will sit flat and tapping the holes.

If your looking for a set of bolt on high steer arms, shop elsewhere, I'm glad I didnt get the D300 clocking ring from you also.

I pm'd you about the gash in the arms only because they were the last two arms on the shelf. I was only trying to get you your arms in the time frame you provided. That arm would have in normal situation went in the scrap bin here, but I sent them to you anyway knowing you needing them to wheel this weekend. As far as the non tapped holes go, that is my fault. I was in a hurry to make usps shipping deadline to get your arms to you. So if you want to bash me and my thread over me rying to take care of you and making a simple mistake in the process go ahead. I think I remember offering you your money back already to take care of this. And that offer still stands.

That's why I had mine drilled/threaded for the bolt directly. Works great for a rod end with only one side of the arm milled. Lockwire the bolt in place, and you have no problems with just a single side milled. TRE, not so much... May be an idea that some people can use on their arms.

I can but the price on 2 would be outrageous. We dont burn our own plate in house so the price on just 2 arms burnt from 1" would probably be double the 3/4 because I order 100 burnouts of the 3/4 at a time. I am in the process of developing a new arm that will allow the 10* correction angle made into the arm. It will still be a little while so keep your eyes open. Thanks

Still in the works! My shop is overloaded with production work right now. So its been hard finding a open space in machine time to get a prototype ran. Looks like i will have a slight slow down after the first of the year for about 2 weeks. Hopefully I can get them going then.

No, Not offering 10* milling at this time.

Wondering if you offer putting the end hole in at 10 deg. instead of milling it. I can get angled shims from McMaster and was thinking I can put one on the top and bottom and tig weld in place. This way no material will be removed from the arm. It'll add about .600" to the thickness of the arm.

Thanks,
Mike
