ok this is what is going on.....

got off the freeway and noticed truck had no power also have new exhaust leak/noise that sounds similar to a hiss..not the usual exhaust clack. also coolant/water is funky.....really brown or rust colored.... I flushed the radiator and the new water gets brown as soon as it starts to flow. when I rev the engine I get water out the mufler and had something that looked like steam for a little bit but it went away
. I havent done a compression check because I dont have a gauge

any ideas.....I dont want to have to do another head gasket

Look around the block and look for coolant leaking out of the head gasket look close around the exauhst manifold that were a lot of the go bad i think. Also do a compression check. I pretty sure you'll know by the results of the compression check.
I'm not the smartest person on here but it sound like the head gaskets bad at the exauhst manifold and is leaking coolant into your exhaust manifold.

I'll doubt you'll see anything around the exhaust manifold

"I get water out the mufler..."

I bet one of your plugs looks kinda different...;)

let the engine sit, pull the plugs and turn it over. Water comes out you definately have a problem. This works better if you pressurize the radiator.
Do you know about the problem with the timing chain eating through the timing cover into the water jacket? you would probably be more likely to see a bunch of water in the oil though if this were your problem.

look to see if the rad is low, and to see if there is any water in the oil, i nearly baught a 4runner with water in the oil at a fawkin dealership:mad: .

ok.........compression was good.....#1,3,4 were all 160+ and #2 was about 135

#1 plug was a little fowl......looked like carbon...kinda whitish so i put a new plug in....just one thoug cuz thats all I had:)

there is no water in the oil and no oil in the water.....although the water was nasty, but it was rusty nasty looking

I wouldnt doubt the timing chain, it is wicked loud sometimes, but there is no water in oil

You might have a corrossion problem in one of the water jackets in the head. Could be leaking into the exhaust ports. You have your head grounded properly? Running Red or Green coolant?

at the moment I have only water........what do you mean by head properly grounded?

My Toyota factory manual says less 14psi difference in the cylinders. We jusy finished rebuilding my brothers 22re with a head gasket problem. #1, #2 compression was low and #3 and#4 were high. we did a leak down test like the manual said, and there was no change. our compreshion was real low though like 32psi that told us eather head or head gasket eather way it had to be pulled appart.

Hoe long have you only had water? Definetly put some antifreeze in there. They are ment to help with corrosion. How does the top of the oil cap look. Chocolate color? Not sure if just water would cause power loss, but it will evaporate in the system with no coolant mix.

seen this happen in 2 other yotas....as far as the rusty water well, that's because of neglect and use of tap water only thru the years.......but the water coming out the exhaust is, like Wheelie_Pete says, a pinhole in the aluminum cylinder head....it just happens....water eats the aluminum away somehow. Needs a new head.

Three things will kill an aluminum head motor

1. straight water, no antifreeze
2. overheating
3. flushing the motor

NEVER FLUSH A TOYOTA MOTOR, and NeVER run straight water

I only put water in it yesterday so that I could go to work

DON'T put anti freeze in it until you are absolutely sure that the coolant is not getting into the oil! Antifreeze WILL destroy your motor if it gets in the oil. Use watter wetter until you diagnose it for sure. This will keep it from corroding in the meantime.

Ok i Have a few suggestions.

1. Do a pressure check on the system. Go by the kit and pressurize the cooling system If it does not leak than Head gasket is proably alright.

2. Does it blow white smoke?Well it wont now cause of straight water doesnt burn like antifreeze.

3. Toyota heads get electrolisis in the water jackets around 2 an 3 cylinders the head gets eaten away between the fire ring and thw waterport. I know cause my head i just pulled off has it big time Head gasket was fine but the head was leaking.

4.The cause of electrolisis is usually a lack of ground. Also when i put mine back together I am going to run the cheap little rad caps that gather the electrolisis at the radiator top so it can be dispossed of does work seen them help alot.

5. One last idea was my problem but i pulled the head anyways. The intake manifold has a water jacket around the bottom there is a carb heater in the same area the only thing that seperartes the water from being sucked into the intake is a gasket my went bad and was sucking coolant into the intake and making like I had a badhead gasket. MY truck is an 22re carb 85

Hope this helps!!!!!!:D

first I would like to start off by thanking all of you.....most of you are all wiser and more knowlegable than I. :D:D

Now I have fixed the lack of power problem but I still dont know where the water was comming from.

:dumbass::stupid::dumbass:
problem: took the cat off just for the hell of it and all the catalist fell out except for a piece just big enough to get itself wedged in the exhaust which probably created blockage. (explains odd noise) knocked all the shit out of the cat and the exhaust and put new plugs in just to have fresh ones and it runs like a champ

still dont know how to explain the water though

thanks yall

If you replace the water with antifrezze and the water coming from the tailpipe turns to antifrezze and not water you have a problem but if it still stays water then its fine. My buddys new 02 chevy does the same water out the tail pipe no biggie.:)

best solution to find problem would be compression check:p
