Anybody chopped their wheel wells on a 2nd gen 4runner? I've got some rust issues and want to fit bigger tires, so I'm chopping, just looking for pics before I have at it, and any information about how high you went from the original fender line. thanks-PhattieD

i know the body is different but dont be afraid to cut away... just tape off a nice clean line and go for it.... i think it took me about 2 1/2 hours to cut both sides of mine... good luck:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

just cut as much as you can fit and try to stay with the original body line if concerned with looks. Just make sure and look on the rear fenders to see if it's a seam. It's like this on the 1st gen 4runners, i did a small write up when i did mine, just search for my name. Just be prepared to weld in extra metal, the front fenders are different than the rear. I would just take it up to the same level as the bed.

This is what I did last year to fit my 33's.

Had to take the corner of the bumper off cuz it was still rubbing. Hammered the seam, and cut the bottom as flush as I could.
For the line to follow, just use some 2" wide tape and put the inside flush with the edge of the fender, then cut along the outside edge. I only used 1" tape since I didn't have to cut much. But I'm gonna have a go at it again soon cuz I'm SASing with rears up front and 37's, firewall's gettin tubbed, too.

I went and inch and a half all the way around both front and rear openings. Worked out just fine. No pics though.
