Morning all

I am overhauling a front mog 406 axle, I have stripped the portal boxes off
and I think there may be a big problem with the lower kingpin.

the insert of the king pin that fits into the axle housing seems very very slack, to the point where if you place it into the axle housing there is side ways play, is this normal?

The hole in the axle housing where the insert goes doesn't seem to be damaged at all.

Only one side had play when the axle was built up but after stripping both sides the lower king pin axle insert seem a slack fit on both sides.

I am hoping this is normal as I don't really want to have to replace the axle.

Any advice on this would be great.

these are a press in fit, some say almost impossible to press out, very unusual to be loose, alternative is to get a new pin machined up oversize and press it in

i have been told that the axles are early `f` type, are the lower pins different to the latter style?
