these sound like ditch witch axles. but to tell you the truth that is a hard call. 7.17 is awful low gears, so most people would need to regear. i would say 5 to 7 hundred each. but this is a w.a.g. as in wild ass guess. just my 2 cents worth

I would consider the Detroit, the width, and the newness to be bonuses. The gearing is probably a moot point because most would want to regear. Given all this I would say that $600 is a very fair price.

Why don't you tell us what price you can get them to us for?

Instead of having us throwout numbers that could be alot higher than what we SHOULD be paying you

I want one! But realistically I kant afford one, sounds like a sweet deal for someone though. If they were around $200 I could swing it (I know that they are worth more than that but that is all I can swing) Post a price, I bet there will be lots of takers on the board.

zstrange, be careful with those axles, they have a crazy ass bolt pattern and Shawn will tell you he can drill them out real quick and easy, 3 months later you still don't have an axle. Also they have weird vent lines that will need to be sealed up before bolting them into anything, the axles were orginally used upside down. The 7.17's are not really a problem cause the Det. will work all the way to 4.56. Another problem is brake mounting. The axles never came with brakes bolted onto them so there is not mounting flange for drums, so you will need to make caliper brackets for discs.

Ricky, be careful too the axles are much narrower than yours now, by at least a couple of inches. IMO keep looking for a full width D70. My friend just got one for $275.00 complete.

NOTE: Shawn will take forever to get anything done! I know, I have probally bought at least 5 axles from him. At least 2-3 months everytime.

a little more info. the axles are 60" wide, not 63-65. the vent is on the wrong side of the tube. not sure of the bolt pattern? he didnt say anything about that. id be buying these as is so its just a matter of picking them up.

Hey man, you say that those 70's were ran upside down? Well i have a ford dana 70 out of a flat bed f350 early 70's, it's a 23 spline 1.5 in shaft...but i was looking at it, and it looked like it was upside down too...but the perches are still in the stock location. Im just not sure if it's playing tricks on my eyes or what. The numbers that are stamped on the differential, that usually say what axle is it (not the BOM), it's the numbers on the DIFF HOUSING. Are located up on the top right of the housing, i thought they were supposed to be on the bottom left of the housing. Anyone clarify this for me?

:D

I'm pretty sure you're eyes are playing tricks on you. The only way they run upside down in ditchwitches is because of the very slow speed. If your D70 had been upside down this whole time it would have already self destructed.

The bolt pattern is real weird, something like 5 on 8.5 or 6 on 8 or something like that. Not many lugs and a lot of distance between them.
