I checked it out a little when I was thinking about a Cummin 5.9 swap into a 60 after seeing this truck (http://www.collegeinternetsolutions.com/cisautoweb/dtlc/6btfj60.html).
I'm not too familar with what trucks came with what axles. I'm not sure if there's a suitable axle right out of the box. I was looking into purchasing a good running Dodge truck with Dana 60 rear and 70 front. Over all the axles were about 5" wider than the FJ60 axles. So I would have had to have had them shortened. Shortening the axle sleeve isn't the expensive part (and it can actually be done yourself), Medusa has a writeup about it on his site and hopefully he'll chime in, but having custom axle shafts made is where it can become expensive. I also wanted the goodies too, disk brakes, and was looking into using the 6 bolt Toyota pattern and in the end was looking at several thousand dollars just for the axles. In the end I scrapped the idea and spent the money elsewhere so go figure :rasta:

you will have to do alittle work for the rear drive shaft for the offset, i would leave the axles full width and use hummer rims with some high steer arms that clear. it should have a dana 60 front with 4.56s and a 14bolt rear with 4.56s and a detroit. if you can get it cheap jump on it. and i couldn't find the shifter for that 4 runner or the drive shafts. i was so damn tired when i got home i didn't look till last night. mike

what i said is only correct if you are talking about a chevy mil truck 83 to 86 6.2 diesel.

There was a Red One in TT a year or so ago, he ran some 2" offset 15" wheels to clear the calipers so the tires really hung out in the wind, I did not like that aspect of the conversion, but it seemed to work well.

if he is doing a complete drivetrain swap he would end up with a 203 or 205 t-case. No more rear offset. :D
But i agree, it would be bitchin! Hummer rims and some big ass tires and get it. :D Cool idea.

If you're looking for a Dodge, pre '94 are the one's that have a 67" wms, kingpin D60 knuckles, pass side drop & leafs. '94 & up have the vacuum D60 fronts with drivers drop & ball joints with coils :barf: In 2000 the Ram 3/4 ton & 1 ton D70/D80 rears have disk brakes. Can't help 'ya on the Cummins engine though :(

David Lawrence ran full-size 1-tons under his FJ60 for a while, it worked well in terms of performance but it forced MAJOR trimming and in the end, the trails he was running just weren't suitable for the big boat, it looked like a crumpled ball of foil! David later sold it and went back to an FJ40...
