Tell me what means you went about conforming this sheet steel to the body, like the gradual narrowing of the body from the start of the fender to the front clip?

I'm not sure what the ? is asking but I used a small homemade break to do little bends to match the body then cut out the wheel well and do more bending. Its like a 5 hr process to do one fender

looks good. And when you add the tube and tie in to the bumper it will really look good and bring it all together in a nice flow with the body. :D

I figured thats what you did for the little bends, but I am saying how the start of the fender is wider and narrows near the front clip, did you do anyting to conform the steel or did you just leave it straight?

once you get the wheel wells cut out everything conforms rear to front using the anchor bolts. the sheet in front was cut 11 1\4 by 48 which just goes from top fender body line(just below the antenna) to the next lower body line. Then the detailed area below roughly 8 x 10 was made to fit welded and ground smooth. The fenders do have about a 1 1\2 curve from top to bottom that was the hardest part to fit. Once it was all close(with in an 1\8 some places more) the anchor bolts hold it all till you get the inner fender shaped. I made the inners out of 7 x 51inch peices once they are welded in place you can remove everything and prep everything for mating it all together weather tight. By the way nice lookin xj. It would look tight with that fender on it. How do you like your tires? I looked at those but ended up with KM2 BFG.

I like the looks of that. What thickness 2x6 did you use? Looks like 1/8 with the end cap but can't really tell.

I see. Pretty long time for each fender but it looks great.

Thanks, once i get my sliders on i think ill tie in some tubing to go along the well and connect it with my front bumper. Maybe same for the rear. I was going to get the KM2s but they were on backorder for 33x12.50 for so long. I got fed up and went with the MTRs. 10,000 miles later i still love them..

this may be a stupid question but, are those some type of weld in threaded bung you put into the side of the body to mount those to?

if ur talking about the anchoring grommet they are collapsible anchoring nut. I forget what they are called but you can get them at a hardware store. I got 100 for 30 bucks

Make sure you keep those wires away from that Vair air compressor, I use a 390 on the motorhome for the air bag system and that metal hose gets screamin hot. I wire loomed all my wires near mine and made a heat shield so it wouldent melt my action packers.

Ill comment, that Im not commenting on your function switch panel...:flipoff2:

ya for the plow and a hunting animal hoist I made so if you get a deer or elk I don't need a tree to hang it in. That is also why I put the tube on they hold up the rack. It collapsed with weight of the plow.

cool thanks for the info man, i've been trying to figure out a way to attach some armor after i seal up the back without having to cut it all out and weld nuts to the inside of the rear inner wheel well.

looks like those will work out for what i need
