are axle shafts interchangeable between the dodge 60 and chev 60, my 1990 dodge 60 is 3" narrower than my buddies 1984 chev 60, is this right? the outers seem the same, but the inners have to be different, am I right on this? oh and yes we were measuring these front ends assembled too. just need to know if shafts interchange, so I don't buy trail spares that don't fit, thanks for some input:D

the chevy dana60's are 69" wide. i have seen and measured several older dodge 60's and they were 67" wide. i am not sure if dodge used any other widths.
also the dodges spring perches are further apart. and yes they have different inner shafts but the stub shafts are the same.

chevy vs. dodge inner shafts
long side is within .1 ", I forget which is the longer one.
the dodge short side inner is 15.96" long and the chevy one is roughly 2" longer
This is off memory- I'm not home and don't have my junk to look at. but is roughly correct.

My buddy just got a Dodge 60..I was expectng it to be 67" as normal...nope, 69". Has external hub style if that makes a difference.

i have measured 4 dodge d60's all were external bolt style. all were 67 so i guess they did make different widths.
My Dodge 60 front (External style hubs) is 67".
How much wider are the spring perches on the Dodge D60s?
The CASTED in perch is out farther?

Yup. If you want to make a Dodge into a Chevy, you have to machine the perch. MJ had that done I think.
The difference is either 1" or .5" I can't remember which, but a lot of people just wedge it in there.
I wonder why someone doesn't make offset spring bushings to take up some of the difference........

I do know my perches are 32.5", center to center, the chev 60 is 31.5" ,so its a certain older chevy inner's wont interchange with the dodge inners, is there any other 60's that interchange or is it just dodge inners?
